They got it wrong because Square was very heavy-handed in their hints towards Chemist, probably because Square intentionally didn't want people to predict the job.

The only possible hint and Ethys pointed this out was that Alpjinauds dad is a Sage but that tells you nothing since is no lore in the game to tell you oh hey btw it is a healer with magical Gundam tentacles.

Even in the context of the scene and any other time sage was mentioned/hinted at makes it sound like a old academic sage/philosopher with the sharlayans being depicted as highly educated and very philosophical there was not really a chance to go "ah yes the gun arm men of pew pew land" lol

Long ago Yoshida said he would like to take the game to sky, sea, and the moon. In that order. He said sky first because he thought it would be exciting to do first. I'm slightly paraphrasing. Yoshida let that one out of the bag long ago, I just think most people forgot or didn't know lol.

I think part of the problem, in general not targeting any youtuber, is that SE paves with gameplay first and then the lore is well crafted behind it. So people who try to predict, with certainty, things are likely going to have to try and recreate through that veil.

Chemist was mentioned yes, and this gives SE an easy intro if they want it, but they clearly don't make it simply because it's there from the lore. They make what they think will be fun for themselves, and the players (player feedback coming in here too), and then weave the lore around it like planting something or the wrapping paper on Christmas presents (wrapping gifts is important, presentation can really change something, bad lore can make what's inside not as exciting, but you've got to know what you want to put inside it first - amazing lore and terrible game is worse than amazing game and terrible lore, but amazing game and amazing lore is obviously the best lol).

Might be just as often accurate to start feedback on what you think would be fun and or in general good for the game. There are a number of items, big and small, that I've hoped for and then be like "well I'll be, look at that there it is" lol. Key to that is having patience though. Like say for example I said long ago I'd love a chocobo ranch and a place to chill (like in FF7), and some other person mentioned they'd love a place to have their minions out in the house, now look we've Sanctuary Islands (but on my part this was a request from many years ago). Also why I say I strongly believe SE is aware of people's desires and trys to accommodate where they think is possible, just.. like view things from a larger timescale than days and weeks into months or years and suddenly you might connect a lot of dots.

In WoW everything is datamined and put on WoWhead on purpose as free publicity to promote what’s coming. There is nothing that will surprise you in WoW ever. Predictions are easy.

Wow also has Public Test Realms. Anyone with an account can see what's coming in the next patch. Last I checked you could even log in with an inactive account.

So I am a very small YouTube doing FF14 videos and I did a prediction video for 6.0 and apart from hitting on there being a healer job I got nothing else right.

I thought the expansion would be called forespoken based on previous trademark filings and timeframes however I was wrong. I was also wrong about Chemist being the healer instead of sage. Was also wrong about getting a melee dps.

I do the videos because during these crap times I need something to during my downtime. I’m no where on the level of Happy, Meoni, Zelpha or any other even remotely known Youtuber however because I was wrong should I stop doing something that I’m enjoying and is helping me cope during a global pandemic?

The location i felt was very clear, just seemed to be a natural progression so im surprised they didn't get that one right. I also felt that a healer class was also clearly on the table. I personally guessed it would be something like Chemist.. but im glade they went the direction they did as i think it will make more players opt to be healers. I was hoping it would be another tank but felt it was unlikely due to GNB coming out.
