Be careful what you wish for I recall MCH mains wanted its rotation to be more streamlined and lost 60% of its kit and identity. Jobs should have a layer of complexity and I find SMN just fine. It’s current incarnation is the simplest it has ever been yet people cry to make it better and that scares me as SE rule is better= dumbed down as we seen several times already

MCH is better, sure it could use some more abilities, but the way it was before SHB was not good.

I'm not sure what the deal with SMN is. It really seems like they have no idea how they want the class to play with how often it changes. I think the dev team is just throw s*** at the wall hoping something stick

Also WERE THE HECK IS EGI GLAMOUR? IT HAS BEEN YEARS WITHOUT EVEN A SINGLE UPDATE OR MENTION

Pretty much this, I don’t find the job clunky or complex, it plays smooth whatever level you happened to be un(synced) at.

It’s a great job, and if you think it’s clunky, maybe you should just work on your hot bar setup.

Honestly, I'd love it if they just doubled down on the pets, while still getting rid of them as a hard mechanic. Instead of having the Carbuncle/Egi do it's own thing and occasionally accept our input to do one of it's moves, it should be our entire kit (Also trance shenanigans). Instead of Ruin, our primary attack should be Wind blade or whatever Yellow or Red do as their autos. We could have some other Egi abilities replace the other cast spells.

I am unsure if I'd want them to have have different sets of abilities based on which Egi is summoned or if I'd want just have a unified Kit with each Egi having a different roll, Hard attack, DoTs, AoE etc.

It keeps the Edi Narrative, we'd still have pets, but mechanically they'd just be an extension of the Summoner, rather than a separate entity. They've already done half the work removing them as a targetable entity, just go all the way and just have them be a cosmetic extension of the summoner.

Honestly, I miss the ARR and HW versions of summoner. I really miss the dot class. I always seem to be in the minority though. I don’t think most folks really like dot classes. While the class still has two dots I wouldn’t call it a dot class anymore than I’d call bard a dot class.

This is a bit reductive, there aren't any other jobs out there where you can use a skill, have the skill go on cooldown, and not have the skills's effect fire because you pushed another button too soon. I would call needing to work around those conditions the definition of clunk.

I'm fine if SMN steps away from being a pet job. I'd prefer it to be a pet job, but I'm fine if it's not.

I do want it to feel like a Summoner though and I like the direction they're currently going in with a rotation of summons. Most Summoners in past FF games don't operate like pets, you just summon a creature and it does a short animation.

That being said, the idea of SMN rotating through a combo of one summon, then another summon, etc. is really appealing and it seems like they're doing that now with Bahamut and Phoenix but just cycling through two summons simply isn't enough.

I think Summoner should be retooled to cycle between Bahamut and Phoenix (as "the big summons" and have all of their other abilities be redesigned to be themed after summons.

Like instead of "Bio" make the DoT "Hellfire" so it's a burning damage over time instead of poison. They could even change the spell animation to be fiery and put an animation of Ifrit's head over the Summoner when they cast it (similar to how Bahamut's head appears over your head when you use Deathflare). Think of it as Yuna in Dissidia Duodecim, she casts her summons' attacks and when she uses them a brief animation of a part of her summons appears with her.
