Male Viera as a playable character! show your support

I DO remember that Viera were "ready" about a week before the FanFest when they were revealed, while Hrothgar were ready TO SHOW a day or 2 before THEIR FanFest. IF they're working on the missing genders and they want to reveal them in the same event, and Covid pushed back their development, we MIGHT see them in the May event.

Again, that's assuming they're being worked on and didn't end up on the cutting floor for 7.0.

Yoshi P already said "We can't do it right now because of issues that we are facing. It's not something that can be fixed by throwing money or people at it. If we find a way to overcome these problems, we may look into it, but for now, keep expectations low." That's basically what he said RIGHT after they weren't announced in 5.0. Nothing has changed so there's no update to give.

Yeah and that was like 2 years ago. While we indeed should keep our expectations low, considering how much time has passed there is nothing wrong with having a bit of hope to hear something about it on the Fanfest.

Male au ra would be a terrible choice for body. They have that nasty hourglass shape. I tested male au ra recently, to see what they look like in gear, and that body shape ruins tons of sets. It looks terrible.

I would agree.... the body shape doesn't say "hunky" to me. It said underweight with a wide rib cage.

That said, Yoshida already said that if they were made based on how he imagines them, they would look closer to the male elezen.

We've got bulky, thin, really thin, and ridiculously thin. Highlander has the only "muscle" and even that could be defined more.

I am too. Thinking something more like highlander musculature with elezen height. But just relaying what Yoshida said his imaginings of the sex would be.

If they were to have a similar shape to Elezen I would hope the males would be just the tiniest bit more broad. A little more shape added to that slimmer frame would look nice. I would fully be happy with the elezen frame with a musculature similar to highlanders.

The hype for male viera was on the community, yoshiP never said it was happening, and with FF lore, we have in fact never actually saw a Male Viera. We can argue and talk circles about that subject yet AGAIN, but at this point its just rehashing a fruitless argument and its quite boring. Look, ill agree that maybe he should have outright said no, or maybe even then, should have just not said anything, cause more and more, it sounds like the backlash isn't so much the genderlock, as it is that people had an inkling of hope they might see male viera because they weren't told "no" Was it marketing or PR, I cant say and I wont pretend it was.

Is it possible that as a Japanese Company they just work differently then American Companies? Just asking, cause this is my 1st real MMO, and which how people talk about SE it sometimes sounds like they think a Japanese company would be run the same as an american company. IDK, I got no frame of reference.

He bascially was like "you will see at the next fanfest" which seeing how we always got all genders and no other race was on the door at that time, that this was a yes. Anyone at that time that kind of pointed out that this is strange was talked down because we should believe in Yoshida and his team and that they would not lie to us. They did. They answered the question that way on purpose.

Yes japanese companies or japenese people in general have the "dont lose face" mentality. Which might be part of the problem but that should not be something we have to worry about. And as others have pointed out he has no problems being quite straight with some of his answers so its not like he can never say no at all.

If they say they have no plans but still do it what would be the problem? People would simply be happy...it would be a wonderful surprise and a lot of people would surely praise them to the heavens for it.
If they say yes but plans change that of course will leave people disappointed BUT instead of just not doing it and being silent or mixed about it just post one of the nice long Yoshi-P posts where he explains the reason in detail. It would not be perfect but if you communicate then there will be much less backlash. But they simply seems to not communicate at all.

He was ambiguous, he didn't say yes or no. It was a badly worded and extremely vague response. Being Vague is not saying yes. Either he could have just not answered or he could/should just say outright no. People agree to this. But people seem to hate to admit they were the ones that came to the conclusion Male Viera was happening. Also, be fair, why blame Square Enix when the response was from YoshiP?

YoshiP already gave a decent enough answer that people can't be happy or accepting of. He pretty much said "If they can, but we can't say yes or no" Im not gonna rehash the same line he already said multiple times, and that was posted here multiple times.
He can very easily give a big response explaining why things are....I mean...he already did.
Now we are waiting on to hear if it will actually happen, maybe it is, maybe not, its better to not say anything until you can give a firm, confirmed, surefire answer.

EDIT/CORRECTION: located the moment i was remembering and upon examination the slip-up appears to refer more to customization options for viera rather than viera variants themselves (which... still never got added), and while yoshi-p's terse interruption could be taken to have some other meaning (such as if the topic had continued to wander), that bit at least would be just speculation
