Sharlayan could still fit as the big city, though it takes more stretching. In Stormblood, we went to Rhalgr's Fist first then to Kugane very early on, and then had to return to Rhalgr's. In this case, however, we'd go to Thavnair early on, cut through an entire continent, cross the sea to Sharlayan, then do the same thing the other way around towards the Empire.

It COULD be done, and I still want to see Sharlayan. Guess we'll find out in May.

I am still curious how the heck is Lahabrea still alive. Everyone thought he was dead including Elidibus and Emet-Selch.

This guy just won't stay dead and what in the world has he been doing these past expansion until now?!

Since it's Pandemonium, which is considered the tower of Hell in FF2, he clearly has taken lessons from Emperor Mateus from FF2 and has taken it over. Looks like this old man finally gets a proper finale instead of being the resident joke Ascian.

Check the Endwalker website, it specifically mentions the Garlean capitol not the country. Garlemald looks like it will only be one area around the capitol. Which makes sense because the screen shots they showed us they have it completely in ruins, which confirms the msq information as well. Remember that the home territory of the Empire was relatively small before they started to conquer other nations.

This now puts the remaining areas and city into two camps. One, they do Sharlayan with a city and places associated with that. Or two, they make it about one of the remaining provinces, and its main city the city. I'd make an educated guess that Bojza and Dalmasca are off the table, but Landis and Werlyt are strong contenders.

I also believe Sharlayan isn't off the table. The twins are being featured as part of the main cast (they're from Sharlayan). Also all the backgrounds used in the Sage reveal were from Sharlayan themed dungeons.

I'd also like to point out the Thavnairia has a giant volcano on it's island.

    An image for refernce:

The new years poem mentioned "the underground". In Final Fantasy IV the way into the underground was through a volcano. This could be the key to getting there.

I said this in another thread but since it also focus on the possible locations....

Considering we are probably getting some FF2 Pandaemonium lore going for the finale of Season 1 storyline. I suspect we may also get the answer to what the Sound is.

The Place that Zeno and Fandaniel are in have a very Pandaemonium design to it. I won't be surprised if they reveal the source of the Sound maybe Satan/the Emperor of Hell.

The Lahabrea Raid may follow up as a post story to cover what became of Pandaemonium after 6.0 with Lahabrea becoming the Emperor of Arubboth.

Location wise where this Capital of Hell maybe, if it follows similar to FF2 rising of the Pandaemonium, I suspect it maybe located in Garlemald as the Garlean Empire's Palace becomes replaced by Pandaemonium in 6.0 MSQ.

Killing an Ascian technically just dissolves their aether back into the aetherial sea. No aether is destroyed in the process. This means that we are just killing their current forms and priming them to be reborn across all shards as sundered individuals. Lahabrea coming back once more is just a shard of his soul lashing out once more.

Something I posted a long time ago, but may have been confirmed with the announcement of his return.

Working as a way to continue the cycle in a way that keeps the reflections as stable as they can be. It is mentioned by Emet that while anyone can raised to be one of the 13, only the truest of servants make the best agents of Zodiarks will. This means Hydaelyn even redistributes the aether of her enemies. Nabriales, Igeyorhm, Emet Selch were all hit and killed by a blade as you mentioned. This does not necessarily mean the souls were destroyed, only cast into the lifestream to be fragmented further by Hydaelyn. Ready to be reborn as individuals who can once again be scouted by the Ascians to serve a vacant office.

In regards to Lahabrea coming back to menace us once again -

Bear in mind that he was one of the few Ascians we did not personally kill. Rather his physical form was annihilated and his aether absorbed into the Eye of Nidhogg to fuel King Thordan, then used as fuel sources for Shinryu. While it's... highly implausible Lahabrea's soul could have survived all that, it's not impossible... and gods only know what exactly is going on with Pandemonium in XIV, since all we know so far is that Lahabrea is going to show up there (and that it uses the same architecture as the Void Ark, maybe).

Further, as a roundabout reference to II (Lahabrea the Abyssal Celebrant is the Scion of Light counterpart to Mateus, the Corrupt in Ivalician mythos, who is a reference to Emperor Mateus Palamecia of II, who famously comes back from Hell as the Dark Emperor after being killed and drags Pandemonium up with him) it does make a bit of meta sense to have Lahabrea show up there.

What I find curious is how he's only got half of his Ascian glyph.

He's a fragment of the soul once called Lahabrea. That would be my guess.
