Why the new Relic steps killed my hype for Bozja; the 1000th thread

Castrum is running on all cylinders now that people have to do it to get to the next step for the relic. What happened previously doesn't matter at this point.

Exactly, who needs to worry about fun? We'll think about that when the problems come even though they were obvious from the get-go.
Seriously, people were farming Eureka a week ago because they would rather get whatever rewards you got from there instead while several threads+vids of how dead Bozja was were being posted. Even though Bozja is supposed to be this expansion's version of Eureka+Deep Dungeon, which has always been really populated content for people levelling alts.

I understand MMOs need to get grindy sometimes, but fun is also important in a game. Actually, it is the main purpose of a game and you can't simply ignore it because "Relics are always grindy and this time you have to run Raids 30 times" Can you had a little fun or variety there, please? Thanks.

They didn't need CT in there, that part could have been removed completely. We already get CT almost every blasted AR Roulette, we didn't need more of that location!

Well, if SE wasn't so cheap with the devs for this game and paid them more they could have converted the Crystal Tower raids into a solo duty and avoid that issue entirely since Crystal Tower is now required to progress the MSQ, but gotta save as much money as possible.

After finishing the CT step, I think the relic is actually stealth Blue Mage content.

Just a correction... its 18 clears of Ivalice and 18 clears of Mhachi raids. So, add 6 more onto that.

I've mostly been grinding fates for one while waiting in the queue for the other. So far I've gotten 3 of the Ivalice memories and 1 of the Mhachi from grinding Loch fates while queuing for Rabanastre. Anything that makes the grind move faster.

The point is that Bozja wasn't required for the previous steps, and now suddenly you're required to play catch-up and clear Castrum and the new 24 man raid, you know, the content that's been dead up until patch day despite being new?

The Bozja story was always going to be mandatory for the relic, they emphasized it day 1 how intricately linked these weapons are to save the queen storyline; anyone who thought otherwise was setting themselves up for disappointment. The only reason people even thought otherwise was because a quote from Yoshi-P was taken out of context when he said that the items for the current step could be obtained outside of Bozja to help alleviate the issue Eureka had where you could only do Eureka to further the weapon and misconstrued it to believe there'd always be a separate way to complete it without ever touching the southern front; and then people took that false hope and spread it as misinformation.

In fact, people have had literal months now to get BSF done before 5.45; Back in the pre-5.4 liveletter in late November, Yoshi-P even hard confirmed CLL was required to continue the relic.

So no, people weren't 'suddenly' forced to catch up; they've had months to play catch up and didn't; it's a player issue here. the devs never went back on their word and gave advanced warning; merely the players fooling themselves into interpreting a quote into something that wasn't true.

You're not lying. Blasting through LOTA on blu was an amazing experience; bosses dying before they could summon adds, mechanics breaking, and you spend more time walking than fighting. We had a mixed alliance of 60s and 70s; I giggle to think what it would be like with 70 blus all with the Stormblood spells.

I'm not sure if you're referencing a Japanese interview or not but there's discussion in another thread about how obtuse and confusing the translations for things like the Live Letters are sometimes. I went looking for something official in English a few days before patch and couldn't find anything concrete and nothing official. They seriously dropped the ball on communication and clarification with their non-Japanese audience. They have had months to see the information going around and took absolutely no steps to clarify anything.

Because they don't put out official statements for their non-Japanese player base and make them rely on unofficial translations for what is said in Live Letters and other Japanese-language presentations. They only translate the slides.

This is a straight up lie. I've been in Bozja and on several occasions less than 20 people bother with it. While Castrum may have an upswing in activity at certain times, that's a far cry from "running on all cylinders." Of course, you always think this is game is literally perfect in every way. So I'm not surprised.
