why do you get relic upgrade materials from crystal tower?

It's horrible actually. 15 crystal tower runs PER relic. CEs over in Bozja only have a CHANCE at dropping ONE memory. You are better off spamming crystal tower raids. People are gonna be in there for a LONG time.

Yup, if you want all the relics it'll be 255 runs of crystal tower, because it's not a guaranteed drop in Bozja it's more efficient if you just spam the one alliance raid over and over.

If the other 2 steps work with similar drop rates, then yes
(18 tokens each from mhach/gyr abania fates and Ivalice/orthard fates for step 2. 15 tokens from the new reginae raid or potd for step 3)

If this is the best the FFXIV dev team has to offer, requiring 5 year old content (for the "alternate path") or pray to RNG Gods to get current gear, I am officially out of this relic.

I think having to set foot in Crystal Tower at all qualifies for soul crushing. I don't know why SE is so focused on making people run what could be one of the worst sets of content in the entire game. It's not even like people were avoiding it.
