You can gauge interest while still allowing the opposite view. The fact your opener has any amount of likes shows that, to some extent, people agree.
Similarly, if you argue your side on the first page of a thread, and that post gets more likes than the OP of it, there can be a reasonable assumption that the counter-point has more interest for it than the original point.
And, once more, you forget where you are: General Discussion. Anyone can enter any thread and say their piece while it is on-topic. You not
wanting them to, isn't going to
stop them from doing that. And, counter to what you may believe, just because you started this thread with the intent for only one side to be heard, the topic is "Do you want gear restrictions to remain in place?" and some valid answers to that are any shade of "no." You not wanting to hear that doesn't mean it's not on-topic for the thread.
This doesn't even work on an ironic level.
Do you have an economics degree or not? Do you want me to treat you like an adult or an infant? At least
try to remember your own public statements before trying to think up of new and creative ways to tell someone to be quiet.
