That's not how public forums work.

If you're trying to gauge a community perspective on a subject, you... can't lock out a subset of said community just because you want to hear what you want to hear. That... defeats the purpose, well, supposed purpose at least.

Yes it’s a shame though. There are plenty of echo chamber threads, but we start one thread with a view they don’t like and they purposely wreck it rather than let it gain traction.

I don’t see what they have to fear. If my opinion truly is the minority one, why can’t they let me have the thread and watch it bust?

I think your someone who doesn’t agree and wants your say, and that’s fine, although this threads purpose was to guage the opposite opinion, there’s plenty of threads for your opinion.

You can gauge interest while still allowing the opposite view. The fact your opener has any amount of likes shows that, to some extent, people agree.

Similarly, if you argue your side on the first page of a thread, and that post gets more likes than the OP of it, there can be a reasonable assumption that the counter-point has more interest for it than the original point.

And, once more, you forget where you are: General Discussion. Anyone can enter any thread and say their piece while it is on-topic. You not wanting them to, isn't going to stop them from doing that. And, counter to what you may believe, just because you started this thread with the intent for only one side to be heard, the topic is "Do you want gear restrictions to remain in place?" and some valid answers to that are any shade of "no." You not wanting to hear that doesn't mean it's not on-topic for the thread.

A forum thread isn't really a "Us vs. Them" situation, one generally posts a thread with a topic at hand and then the members of that forum discuss the topic at length regardless of what side of the aisle someone is on. OP has a bias, generally, as do the posters and the point from there is to have a discussion that points out pros and cons over time.

If you feel you're being drowned out and not being backed up, then maybe the assertion of the position in the first post isn't as popular as you believe it to be with the community here? And if you're unwilling to entertain opposing views, and be part of a discussion on the matter, then there was ultimately no reason to post a thread in the first place.

You say in the OP you're not comfortable voicing dissenting opinions but the first time I had any interaction with you at all was you coming into a Viera/Hrothgar thread and saying they should just delete them. Looking at the rest of your posts in the other thread on this subject you're perfectly comfortable being abrasive and rude to strangers but can't handle any push-back. So you complain about echo-chambers and start your own echo-chamber here.
