It's less of an "Inner Release" version and more of a build up phase and a burst phase. Every role (except healers) has it.I can answer your question on that. Let's check on the similarities tanks have and then you might notice something when you look at the warrior skillset.
1: every tank job has its own version of inner release.
Tl;dr: tanks are just as boring to play as healers are because in both roles, the jobs are too similar from one another.
Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]
I think calling it an "Inner Release" is aptly named in this case. It always boils down to "spam this button 5 times", granted PLD now presses a different button at the end of it but the original design of Requiescat was exactly that. Sure, you could press something else, just like you could on warrior but that would simply mean you're doing it wrong on purpose.
You're also not building up to anything, that's what GNB does, you're simply popping the cooldown and spam away. PLD only slightly differs in that it technically still has a cost attached to it but this cost is irrelevant due to it's rotation.
