Zenos, as much as I loathe him, has a great VA. Same with Fandaniel... and Varis, Elidibus, Yotsuyu, Lahabrea, Igeyorhm "shadowhunter" Gaius, Vauthry, Thunder God, Ran'jit, Urianger, Thancred, Y'shtola... Emet-Selch I'm a bit iffy about, he's the one case where I liked the JP version better, but I guess technically he's a good VA and he stood out for good reasons.

    It's much better.
It comes down to personal preference, but I prefer the English VA for the most part. There's a lot of characters which I think sound more generic/annoying in JP, such as Alisaie, Y'shtola, Yotsuyu etc.

This was also the patch that suffered from having to switch over to doing things at home. So, there might have been some lack in direction. I know Cid at least suffered from this as he normally sounds like Obi-Wan. I didn't mind either English or Japanese VAs.

Grow up , act like an adult. Stop demanding someone be fired because you don't like their voice.

FR voices are great excepted for Y'shtola (which is the same voice used for Sophia and Suzaku), too boring (I was totally blast when I heard her in the English ShB cinematic. It's completely another level).
I don't really like these characters because of this voice.

I've noticed in JP dubs that while the men usually have spot on voices, females can be a bit all over the place. I'm fine with some of them, but the higher pitched ones I just do not like, it's more often then not grating on the ears. I understand it's a cultural thing, but I prefer to hear a little bass behind the voice.

I noticed that every voiced character who wasn't a voiced character (the pirates and the kobolds) sounded really off. I think it might because of the lockdowns, where the new voice actors might not have had enough time with a voice director to give them good directions. The good voices were all returning characters, so the voice actors already knew their roles and didn't really need much direction.

Trust me, any reservations we might have with English, they have the same reservations with Japanese. We understand English, so we can pick up on the subtleties that others can't. Same with any other laguage. Plenty of Japanese people dislike some of their VAs too.

I like helping people with their Job ideas, it's fun to help them visuallize and create the job they'd like to play most. Plus I make my own too, I'll post them eventually.

I wouldn't even have thought about it twice if this was the voice for any regular human child, but yeah, I was expecting a bit more jittery and screechy and less well-mannered Dickensian street urchin.

EDIT: But I don't think it's a big enough deal anyone needs to get fired over it obviously.
The text you read in the game is not translations of other languages, they are transcriptions of their respective language's audio. Unless you speak the language you're listening to, you're not getting an accurate representation of what's being said. Overall gist, sure. But not entirely accurate. Tesleen's monologue, and Haurchefant's entire character, for example, are completely different in English and Japanese.

No doubt, but I was mostly referring to things like when Trusts make comments or murmuring by people in the background in cutscenes and things like that. Things like that don't have any text in English either but at least I can understand what's being said as opposed to when the language is set to Japanese.
