What were you expecting them to sound like? They are sentient and intelligent. Did you want them to bark like dogs or something? Ga bu is a child so he sounds like a child.

They regularly make shrieking animal sounds. It didn't make much sense to me when we first got to Mord Souq and they were still making those sounds, but then one of them speaks in english with a fanciful brittish butler voice.

They should have had raspy animal voices based on the sounds they already made.

I also thought Cid sounded like he was being voiced by someone entirely different. I don't know if this is true or not but I didn't enjoy the change at all.

It's the same actor, but it's lacking direction, the VA is more or less speaking in his normal voice. Due to covid restrictions, it's harder to get proper voice direction.

Aymeric and Raubahn have a similar issue, it's the same VA for sure, but they don't have a director on board to guide them.

I can understand covid making things difficult, but that doesn't mean they just give up at making the attempt. It seems like they didn't try at all.

In my mind, you'd just send some line reading to the voice guy, they'd listen and give you feedback.

Alternative to that, do a call and work on it that way. If that was the same actor for Raubahn, you could've fooled me. He sounds nothing like him.

This, the quality of all of the VAs was off this patch. Every single one sounded different than normal.

dang man, people can scream and chirp too without having animalistic voices. Its not like we have entire quest series about how beast tribes are literally regular people just like everyone who lives in the city-states or anything and expecting them to be uncivilized just because their cultures are more tribalistic is wrong and prejudiced or anything.

Tesleen's monologue, and Haurchefant's entire character, for example, are completely different in English and Japanese.

Japanese (and French) Haurchefant is entirely wonderful and a completely different character. He was neutered in the English version.
