7.0 and Beyond: Vana'diel?

The NieR raid is being treated as a sort of sequel or something to Automata (also technically aliens who came from another world. Probably. We'll probably know what's up once the story concludes in 5.5). That's why it kinda gets a pass. For XI, it's more complicated because Hydaelyn and Vana'diel are two completely different worlds with their own lore and races (as mentioned previously). Do they have some things in common, yes. But that's where it ends. Absolute Virtue in XIV (allegedly created by Eureka. I think it's like Zantesuken where the Lance is an Eikon and AV is just a victim transformed) is not the same AV in XI (part of the Aern race). There's also no voidsent in XI. Soulflayers in XI are BLU's who messed up, whereas SoulMindflayers in XIV are voidsent from the 13th.

Shantotto has the magic power to travel to other worlds (she even says as much in XI when you get her as a Trust: "As an aside, one of my journeys of late took me to another world. Though far be it from me to mention what calamities might have occurred"). She also has a story dedicated to explaining how she gained that power. Iroha appearing in XIV is something I've always been sceptical about, though. Rhapsodies ends with a satisfying conclusion (even she's satisfied as she disappears), yet when she winds up in XIV, she's all "I NEED TO GET BACK AND FIGHT!" but then doesn't and it's just... I don't get it.

Thus you prove my point, the devs can and will do whatever they want and craft a story behind it to make it work. At face value FFXIV and Nier have no relation what so ever other than the fact that the the producers are friends and wanted to do a collaboration together. Same thing with Monster Hunter, Yo-Kai, Garo, or Dragon Quest. This is less about if the Devs can do it, or more along the lines if the players want them to do it.

Except as I've stated before the development team themselves have outright stated that lore wise there is no connection between Hydaelyn and Vana'diel whatsoever, they're both completely different and seperate worlds in completely different universes (and thus no story reason for adding 'a trip to Vana'diel'):

The closest you'll get to 'FFXI content in FFXIV' is the two FFXI events that have happened previously, and Eureka, which is at the very least inspired by FFXI in gameplay in spirit if not thematically (as well as having FFXI music and even Absolute Virtue as a boss).

You simply will not, nor never be, journeying to Vana'diel as part of FFXIV's story, that's just being realistic.

Except as I've stated before the development team themselves have outright stated why they will not be doing that, because lore wise there is no connection between Hydaelyn and Vana'diel whatsoever, they're both completely seperate worlds in different universes:.

Cool Cool. You just invalidated your own point because in that exact same quote, from 2014, he said Ivalice has no connection to "Hydaelyn" yet some how in 2017 Ivalice is now apart of FFXIV lore. I guess the devs can change their minds as the years go on.

Same could have been said 3 years ago with Nier Automaton yet here we are.
And before you reply with blah blah blah, not the same worlds, blah blah blah. Just stop. FFXIV and FFT/FFXII are totally different games that the development of FFXIV crafted together with a story. FFXIV and FFXI are totally different games that the devs can merge together at anytime if they want.

This is more about personal opinions and preferences than it is about what can and can't be. I hate hate hate that Nier was added to FFXIV. I won't do the raid, period. Regards people like it and I'm sure it has a well crafted story to makes sense, but I don't agree with the decision based on my own personal opinion on collaboration.

They didn't, though. It's extremely easy to tell that the Ivalice in XIV is not the same one as the one from XII and Tactics (different lore, story, etc. Heck, timeline is reversed). If a city, dungeon, whatever from Vana'diel were to appear in XIV, then it would only be similar in appearance. It won't be the exact same place.

Yoshi-P respects the lore from past FF games. Merging XI into XIV would be a pretty big mistake as it would require a lot of things in XI to be retconned (the Void, Hades, Cloud of Darkness, the playable races, lore, Gods, Diabolos, summons, timelines, alternate timelines, etc).
