    Increasing the item level requirement would only make Savage-level gear closer to a requirement rather than a bonus that rewards you for getting them.

    Again, it's literally the opposite of what the OP is saying they want to be able to do with their Savage gears. Granted, it does give an answer to the question of what the point of getting Savage gear is, but then again, that question is already answered in that it makes content easier to do.

    We are not talking solely about savage gear. We are talking about current tier high ilvl gear which can be either savage or tomestone, doesn't matter. What matters is that if we look at what relevant content it's useful for then there isn't a lot. Let's assume you've farmed your 450 Allegory dilligently each week and you're in full tomestone gear, maybe even Augmented Tomestone because you did Puppet's Bunker and Factory for months.

    What is it actually good for? Not savage because you're not doing that. You could use it in the Treasure dungeon but that one was already a cakewalk in Ronkan gear. You could use it in the 24man if you still want to keep doing that after you probably have everything from it. You can use it for the two Expert dungeons if you still do that, which by the way will be 1 Expert dungeon in 5.4 because Hero's Gauntlet is still gonna be in the roulette but sync you to 500. Or maybe the ex trial if you do those. What is most likely is that by the time you have your full Augmented gear you will have run everything but the ex trial so often that you really can't be bothered to anymore, because you have to run that same content in order to get the gear in the first place.

    I'm not looking at BiS gear in this example exactly because raiding savage significantly reduces the time you need to acquire high ilvl gear. Your BiS is often made up of 50% savage and 50% tome gear which means you not only have 2 different sources to get gear from but also potentially reduces the amount of weekly lockouts to get said gear and on top of that gives you access to upgrade materials before the release of the 24man.


    Regardless of what the OP wants, what I would be looking for is some of that "dreaded" challenging 4man content. Hell, not even challenging, just something between Extreme and Expert difficulty that you can carry your ilvl 500 gear into to maybe get some use out of it.

    So was I. I'm just using Savage as a representative as that's what the OP mentioned.

    Well, there isn't a lot of different battle content in the first place, but outside of early max level dungeons, a leveling trial, unreal trial, maps dungeon, and Bozja, the rest have no item level sync, which means better gear will always be useful.

    Well, that depends on the player.

    I only do dungeons when I level or when I need to get tomestone, but otherwise, my main content in FFXIV is doing daily roulette for trials, normal raids, and alliance raids. And when I do get a max level duty in one of those, better gear will always be better, though they're still useful even on synced contents. I just did Ridorana earlier today in roulette and it was so fun doing it with people being overgeared even when synced down.

    Regarding that, what kind of reward would it give? There is not much room and it might make even more content and/or reward feel "redundant" or even "useless" with the addition of a content that is between Expert and Extreme, or even Expert and Savage.

    And if you want challenge, they'll likely add level sync for accessibility in exchange.
