Server merge in 11 was perfect. Why can't they replicate it? Don't be a fool please... Next post.....LMAO, you people begged and pleaded for a world merge/transfer and now bitch about the manner in which SE provides it? You do realize that if they could have done this a better way they probably would have right? You all really think they sat around thinking up ways to create this that would best screw you all? Amazing. Thats like asking for help and then questioning the manner in which its provided. Face facts, many of the people that are "taking a break" aren't coming back. And for those that I hope do return, if its so important for them to keep the character they have made but took a break on in the same world as their friends, they can pay a sub fee like the rest of us and CHOOSE where they want to go in March.
Do a normal merge, I cannot think of any reason why this merge system would be better then a normal merge, I can think of many reasons why this system is worse then a normal merge...
simple.
I think this is the reasoning behind not naming the servers until after the merges. Barely anyone would have any sort of preference for a number so it would be easier for friends of friends and entire networks to spread the word about moving to a specific server without issue.Because it's an inconvenience to the player and their friends, friends of their friends, and various linkshells that have different plans. Communities don't exist in bubbles after all. Your friends don't just have you, they have other friends that might want a different server because their friends like it.
I have to say when pay to play came out I decided to give these forums a second chance. I despise trolling/and whineyness.. Yes I know not all of you are -adults- but i am really disappointed at how many "adults" there are here who sound like children. Were grown up. let's act like it okay? Yea I want your feedback, I would love to know how you feel about this but I don't care to listen to you -whine- constantly. If your so unhappy go away, there's many of MMO out there for you. Do we really need to be babysat? I know kids how act more mature then many of you are being.
In my opinion yea okay it sucks for the people not playing but there -not- playing so I don't give a rats petunia about why they aren't or when they will come back. I miss some oh yes but they made up their minds and im still here. I shouldn't be forced to stand around shouting all day to get something done because "unactives" don't wanna play. If you are worried about a old friend who hasn't played since last year, keep in touch and powerlevel them if you want. Hell, half the people whining they have nothing to do have nothing to do cause they jumped the "powerlevel wagon"
Merging can work yes but you know what I remember from "merging" in xi? *points up to every negative comment this post has* I like this idea but yes I would like to see the name given to said servers and I have chosen servers in XIV because of the names. I am a little sad there is no Roleplay server but I don't even know if I would go to it anyways.
I have listened to sooo many of my friends tell me about how they cant wait to leave our server, to start fresh and new, and this is finally going to be a option. yes I will miss friends I have met, but I will make new friends as well. Even I loving a lot of people from besaid am excited! This will be new refreshing, hell I may even start a new character to get to play two places at once and get something to do other then sit on a bunch of lv 50's.
All in all, I support this decision. after all the majority of you wouldn't be happy no matter what step SE made.
Amazing how ignorant some can be.Amazing, you people begged and pleaded for a world merge/transfer and now bitch about the manner in which SE provides it? Also, with as fast as it is to level up as well as the additions they are adding to make crafting easier, it really isn't that big of a deal to make a new character and get it up to where their old one used to be in fairly short order. Especially if they want to play with friends that I am sure are more than willing to help them do so. I just text 4 of my friends right after reading this to let them know about this, and most of them are gonna pony up a sub fee for one month so they can choose for themselves where they want to go. Seriously, not a big deal folks.
My thanks to SE for finally providing us something we have been asking for for a while now.
Personaly I never asked for server mergers, I'm happy how things are on my server atm, yet I'm stuck with an awful excuse for merger system.
All this merge will do is forcing people who have more then a handful of friends and one LS to choose between and loose friends and split groups.
And this feels like a giant money grabbing move from SE; "Cheapest way of merging servers with the least effort" sorta deal, cause face facts, less servers running = more money saved for SE.
This was all you really needed to say lol. They would have found something to complain about even with "normal merges."
"Like Ohmaghawd why can't my inactive account have priority over names since I played alpha and quit in 2010? I'm the person you should be caring for SE, you know more people who just took a break and will be coming back and we'll have to force name change? Unfair SE, unfair!"

Is that unreasonable? I can ask for a ham sandwich and if it's prepared weird I have no right to complain? I'm paying after all. It's not like I'm threatening to quit or anything, I'm just issuing my concerns with this system and questioning why it came to pass.
I'd like to hear an explanation at least, because this isn't working out for many people here and we deserve to know how and why they came to this decision. You do realize that if they could have done this a better way they probably would have right?
You all really think they sat around thinking up ways to create this that would best screw you all?
Spoken like someone that clearly thinks the 2 games are coded the same. ANd I am more than willing to bet not everyone thought the server merge in 11 was "perfect". You can't please everyone, its a game, deal with whats happening and adjust your plans accordingly.
Thats right, if you wanted the sandwhich prepared your way, then you should have made it yourself. By asking for help to make it, you need to accept that the person making it can't read your mind, so they will make it the best way they know how. You have no idea what stipulations they are under with the game coded the way it is.Note:Quotes rearranged for convenience of discussion.

Its their game, they can do whatever they want, however they want and if a player doesn't like it, no one is forcing them to pay to play. And I am more than willing to bet that in the coming weeks, with the number of people on here crying about it, they will actually offer some explanation as to why they have done things the way they have.
