About the World Merge and Character Transfers (02/09/2012)

With a ls of 100+ members why should we be forced to run the risk of loosing any members because squeenix wants to do a server merge. Ls should be unaffected by the change a.k.o reduce lower population servers into higher population ones. Similar to what they did in FF11.

got few minutes before next e-mails all come in... most posts on the JP side against this decision is asking for the following.

1. Reveal the server names
2. Why couldn't SE just merge the low population servers and keep the large population servers while allowing players to decide if they want to move to another server they have this option. By randomly sticking people in random server if they don't decide by the due date will cause players who didn't subscribe at the moment but planning to play in 2.0 to be separated from his/her friends currently playing.

I can try translate some of them but dunno if I got time at work... at home haven't been on FFXIV for more than 2 hours last couple days because baby loves to stay up now >< + had other projects for making graphic design for my friend and stuff...

Here's easy one with lots of likes to translate and made me laugh..

Why not just do World A + World B = World C but also offer the choice to leave the world if you wish. You have to register beforehand anyways.

There's no reason why there can't be a medium here.

just merge small servers into larger ones.

EX: server 1 = 400 players
server 2 = 900 players
server 1 + 2 = 1300 players

Server 2 now has a total of 1300 players.

this way you also phase out the small servers so you wont have to use them anymore.

So why are people honestly complaining then? xD It still does what they're planning to do, trying to get people together and condensing the servers.

Because it's an inconvenience to the player and their friends, friends of their friends, and various linkshells that have different plans. Communities don't exist in bubbles after all. Your friends don't just have you, they have other friends that might want a different server because their friends like it.

That's true. That way, people who haven't registered and will not til 2.0 can sign in and are guaranteed to see some friendly and known faces from the time they left.

With bone head decisions like this... i'm starting to think they got lucky with ffxi and them making another good game would be more of a fluke than a sure thing.

Oh well, glad the servers were dead when i started and i have no friends ingame to worry about.

Amazing, you people begged and pleaded for a world merge/transfer and now bitch about the manner in which SE provides it? You do realize that if they could have done this a better way they probably would have right? You all really think they sat around thinking up ways to create this that would best screw you all? Thats like asking for help and then questioning the manner in which its provided. Face facts, many of the people that are "taking a break" aren't coming back. And for those that I hope do return, if its so important for them to keep the character they have made but took a break on in the same world as their friends, they can pay a sub fee like the rest of us and CHOOSE where they want to go in March.

Also, with as fast as it is to level up as well as the additions they are adding to make crafting easier, it really isn't that big of a deal to make a new character and get it up to where their old one used to be in fairly short order. Especially if they want to play with friends that I am sure are more than willing to help them do so. I just text 4 of my friends right after reading this to let them know about this, and most of them are gonna pony up a sub fee for one month so they can choose for themselves where they want to go. Seriously, not a big deal folks.

My thanks to SE for finally providing us something we have been asking for for a while now.
