And by the end of the day they will have a few empty bottles of whisky around?
I am absolutely infuriated about this utterly unnecessary complication in world transfer!
* The new Worlds shall inherit the names of the ten most popular current Worlds. Name assignments will be announced after the transfer selection period has ended.
What ridiculous reason could you have for hiding our server names from us until we are on them?
Yes they are just names but to some of us they have value and enhance our experience!
I chose my server for a reason, it is one of the top and will be featured as a name in the 10 but I and my friends who also want to stay on the same name have to chance getting it in a stupid hope of luck?
Please change this and allow us to see the server names before we transfer!!
100% agree!.
SE, please reveal names before we have to chose. I chose Besaid for a reason and I would like to end up on Besaid, not Wutai nor Lindblum or anything else. There are many people like me who would like to stay on Besaid after transfer.

Besaid is one of top 10 servers, why not reveal the names now or before transfer? Also it gonna be more transparent and easier to understand the whole proccess by knowing the server names that we are going to.
Best regards,
Loyal Lalafell
P.S: My thread to this: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...ransferring%21
I was talking about the kitty in it. Duh... >_>
And I certainly hope the devs take this to heart and relay all this feedback to the producers. It's rare to see such determined and united skepticism coming out in just a few hours. Can't imagine the other language forums looking much different. Bad planning is bad planning, and I'm an optimistic person by nature.
PS. As I thought. On the Japanese forums alone, there's around 5-6 skepticist threads popping up, and one is already passing 300 replies and 74k views. o_o DS.

Scandinavians, or people wishing to join a community of Scandinavian languages in FF XIV, please check my blog on Lodestone and submit a comment to make your interest known.
To promote even player distribution. Something that would not happen if they used the OLD server names because the names themselves have become synonymous with how active that server is. You think anyone is going to join Saronia over Gysahl?
However, if they used NEW server names much of this problem would dissipate. The added bonus is that it'd be far easier to coordinate.

If they have enough players to support the ten servers, and the servers are going to keep their names, let us keep our server names. The remaining 8 servers' players will remain to fill the rest, and will be locked out of servers with too high a population.
Even distribution is not going to happen, sorry.
And you have evidence that it is not? It's one of < 10 servers with three chocobo's whenever I check. By all means, enlighten me.
You're for the idea in every other thread. Why the change of heart? If they have enough players to support the ten servers, and the servers are going to keep their names, let us keep our server names. *EDIT* I just noticed someone posted this reference to a post in the JP forums:
23:02 1150 Gysahl
22:46 1071 Cornelia
23:37 955 Mysidia
23:26 1400 Selbina
22:33 1008 Figaro
23:48 698 Trabia
23:29 627 Palamecia
23:00 874 Lindblum
22:13 659 Istory
23:36 753 Besaid
23:28 460 Wutai
22:30 593 Rabanastre
23:02 748 Kashuan
22:55 710 Saronia
23:56 619 Fabul
23:06 487 Bodhum
22:41 585 Melmond
23:39 439 Karnak
I can't vouch for how accurate it is, but even if the margin of error is quite large... Gysahl is well within the top 10. Kthx.

I'm for lots of different ideas. They're not mutually exclusive. To sum up:
I would like them to merge entire servers with an "opt-out" option. I.e. Selbina and Rabanastre will become Zanarkand (just examples), but you can choose to move elsewhere.
Because I realize that SE will probably not do a 360, I at least support the early release of server names because people (including myself) are simply trying to circumvent this equal disbursement that they think numbers will bring. And if they will not do this, I am for the idea of creating new server names so there is not a feeling of having been displaced, but of being replaced.
I am also a proponent of equal treatment for the non-subs and current subs. I.e. if they choose for us, I want the non-subs to come with us; and if we choose freely, I want the non-subs to choose freely. Though I realize you can and might argue this to the death, this game is not quite a finished product, and the devs have admitted that they're not even going to try to push PR until after 1.21, presumably for 2.0. To say that players who have every intention of coming back do not deserve a fair chance to play with their friends sounds wrong to me, regardless of whether that's absolute or enforced by a "tax" on non-subs. We get special benefits for paying in the form of event items (Goobbue) and the "live" storyline.
And regarding Gysahl, I could care less either way. The names are just names, and it's tragic that they've elected to do this method with the same names, and then make it so we're picking without knowing. I don't frequently go through the trouble of creating new characters just to back up a forum post.

Yes, it's nice to see something that a good majority of the player base agrees on! I had heard that the Japanese forums were as active as ours, though they had Devs active.
Hope our Devs enjoy their coffee ... and whiskey as Delsus said above *laughs*
Lol how else will they cope with all these threads * Bayhone checks forums* *sees all the rage threads* "omg Rukiiri we need some Irish coffee to get through all these"Oh /blush Thankies ^^
