Every time the dev. team does something a few people don't like they all make threads with irrational titles full of their concerns which are worded in a manner that no one will take it seriously.

    Like this thread.
I won't argue that point. I made my own thread, it was titled "Server Merge." Sorry if that's over the top for you. Unfortunately, threads with plain titles quickly drop to the bottom, while threads in all-caps, or threads with "HATE," "quitting," and lots of exclamation points quickly become hot topics (albeit quickly off-topic). Speaking of off-topic, I'm pretty far out there myself...

THEN: When people don't agree with you; you make assumptions about those people. Lable them and then say things like "I even gained a bit of insight about what groups this merge is helping."
    What does that even mean?
    (Also, @Murugan)
I was referring again to my own thread, where a new player pointed out that he'd been trouble getting into the community because it was already well-established. Scrambling players forces new communities, which gives everyone equal opportunities. I'd never thought of it that way. Nonetheless, I don't think the infux of new/returning players is enough to justify breaking up the community.

Your concerns are noted indeed, but don't sit on your high horse and pretend that your concern is more important than anyone's non-concern.

Opinions are equal. "Self-defeatist" or not. *rolls eyes*
I'm sorry if it came off that way, but I don't think my opinion is better than anyone's. I do, however, wonder why the people who are "non-concerned" are bothering to show their lack of concern. I appreciate people that show me new points, because my opinion is only limited to my experience. But I could care less for a post (not referring to yours here) that just says "It's already decided. The end."

Non-concern is just as important as concern.
It let's the dev. team know that there are people who are OK with this method and perhaps they can keep it this way while focusing elsewhere.

Yoshi-P has said it before: He likes when we debate, even when it gets furious. We all got furious.

It doesn't give equal opportunity to new players at all though because it isn't a character wipe, people will still fill up servers by transfering in groups causing many new players (and some players who tried to transfer with friends) to be unable to create characters there. New players instead will be funneled into low pop servers. Returning players will also be at a disadvantage because they won't know anyone on their server.

I haven't seen any attempt to justify why they are doing it this way without first doing a regular server merge for those of us who don't want to transfer so that we don't have to scramble to get on the same server as some of our friends.

Chill out. I'm on your side. I just said that this flame war showed me a point for the opposition and I was able to accept it. I then said that those benefits still didn't outweigh the losses in my mind. So I'm still on your side.

It will not give them equal opportunities fiscally or in character level, but when we form tight groups of friends and tight linkshells, there is difficulty in being the new guy. Even after you're invited to a shell, often you sit there for a few days, then say something here and there, and if you get positive feedback, you'll start talking more; if you don't, you'll just be less prone to talk and feel like you don't fit in. Psychology+comm theory. They'll never be able to fit in like those of us that have been playing together for months or more. If you want to see that post, click my name and look for threads I've started. It's called "Server Merge" or something like that. It will give them a chance to join a community that is not established, giving them just as much confidence and acceptance as anyone.

Unfortunately, I don't think the current server merge will entirely address that issue either. Hence why it didn't change my mind. And moreso, this issue will just happen again for every single new player. It's not a good enough reason for me.
