Probably because it's an event based on a distinctly US celebration not really followed in any other country other than local shops trying to make money from kids weaned on too much imported US pop culture (I'm Australian and here Halloween is regarded as "that crass American holiday" to put it politely and ignored by the majority of the population)

You have to remember that this is an international game that is to appeal to just not US players but players around the world.

Halloween is from Celtic Europe. I don't know about the other countries with Celtic history but I can tell you Halloween has always been celebrated in Ireland, even long before the USA adopted it. I know that presently Ireland and the UK celebrate it. I frequently hear about other countries around the world who have also taken it into their own culture and celebrate it too.

We do in Scandinavia as well. They celebrate Halloween in Japan also so that person's comment was just derp. Like they're going to cancel an event they've been doing for many years because it's "distinctly US"? lol OK.

I think it's something of a perception here in Australia that Halloween was imported from the US because it wasn't commonly celebrated (to my awareness) until we saw it in American media and said "hey, that looks fun, why can't we do it too?"

It wasn't a thing at all for me growing up, but I think we're hitting the point where the generation of kids that wanted it to be a thing are now the adults decorating houses and organising trick-or-treating.
