On a second read of that quote, it says they are considering moving the event to October and integrating the All Saints' Wake rewards. It looks like they decided on one but not the other and I think it's a decision that makes sense, even if it means we don't get a Halloween costume as a result, because it would be unceremoniously dropped on us without the planned story to go with it.

It's pretty bad PSO2 can have a Halloween event but FFXIV can't.

I don't get why they didn't have enough time to toss together a small event. Or heck even reuse a old event. You want to smooth over a player base who is a little upset from no event? Apply one of the older events for people to play through, I dunno.
They would have been wise to stick to the original idea of planning to add the Saint's wake items to a GS vendor for a short while.

No offense to FFXIV and it's holiday events, but most of them take 5-10 minutes to compete with reading the story. This is as far as I know the only mmo that cancelled the Halloween event. =/ You know what they aren't going to skip out on.. adding last years events items to that cash shop ;P haha.

Yeah, but they have nothing to add to the cash shop next year :O

Well, maybe they just add the pumpkin carriage as a mount? xD

I think the fact that their major patch was published two months late indicates exactly how much of an effect this has had on their work schedule and why they might be scraping for time.

Putting an item into their shop template is hardly a comparable amount of work.

Last I saw, they have new items, just no event. And those items are going to be added for MGP with the Make it Rain campaign they're doing instead (since we didn't get that over the summer like we usually do)

It's done by hand each year, from what I gather. Since it differs each time. So unless they recycle last year's set of decorations, then we're out of luck.

Some people really think them joining both events meant there'd be content-worth of two events under one event banner?

They must have probably been living under a Covid-less rock.

If they could work on two full events, they'd have two separate events, geniuses.

You have to remember that this is an international game that is to appeal to just not US players but players around the world. An event based on a cultural holiday particular to a certain country is always going to play second fiddle to events with more broader appeal, that's just being realistic, even if you don't throw the added disruption caused by the pandemic into the mix.
This is not just a US holiday. Halloween is celebrated around the world either on that day or November 1/2 as All Saints Day/All Souls Day, etc. US Halloween has its roots among these different celebrations. Have you never heard of Día de Muertos? That's not from the US, my friend.

So it would make sense that something celebrated around the world might get a bit more consideration than a Gold Saucer event.

Considering that you're basing this only on what your own country thinks wrongly about things, maybe you're the one who needs to remember this is an international game.
