The writing from what I've seen is meant to be open ended- whether you interpret it as you guys were BFF's or potential lovers. Like the dinner with Aymeric or Haucherfaunts affection, or the "double date" with Thancred & Urianger. Emet's seemingly longing of your character, there was some kind of intimacy whether it was friends or lovers. Take it as you will

Emet-selch went behind the backs of the rest of the Convocation and created an unsanctioned soul crystal for Azem. He even called Azem his 'dearest friend.'
It seems to me that, while maybe not lovers, they were very close.

I think that conclusion is unlikely to be correct. There aren't really anything suggesting Emet-Selch was Azem's boyfriend specifically.Multiple cutscenes in 5.3 seem to suggest that Emet Selch was actually Azem's boyfriend. When revisiting old 5.0 cutscenes, it seems canon at this point that Emet Selch was actually Azem's lover/boyfriend. We don't know if Ascians marry but if they do it's also very possible that Emet Selch is Azem's husband.
There are plenty of details that suggest Emet-Selch and Azem were friends back in the day. Close friends even.
But nothing that suggests any kind of romantic relationship - and I think we would have got some hints of that if it was supposed to be true.

Actually, the events, dialog, and how things went down suggest that Emet-Selch and Azem were the closest of friends, lovers, or family. What they were not was just friends, Emet felt Azem was the only person in all creation able to Judge him wrong for trying to bring back Zodiark, he even set it up that if the WOL defeated him, that he would posthumously aid Azem. You don't do that with a casual friend, this is what you do for family, or a loved one. It was clear, very clear this is how Emet felt about you even when your Azem side hadn't manifested, which is what he was hoping for the whole time. Emet was ready to collapse all of Creation to bring Azem back. By beating him, even if you didn't remember he felt Azem was back.

This dude is troll and you all got baited. He makes topics about gender just to make people mad and argue... just stop giving him legitimacy.
Amazing you can post a legit topic![]()
Note: Taking advice from a players alt, is like taking advice from a voice in a dark room. Criticism is a two way street remember that!!

Yes he is my boyfriend and my matehe did nothing wrong.. Death to the scions and the warriors of light I serve only emet

So like, it's off topic, but the best way to deal with trolls is to take them seriously and ignore the fact that they are attempting to troll. Crying out and calling attention to it and claiming that people were, "Baited." is no more helpful than actually interacting with the thread, particularly if the thread topic itself isn't in the realm of the absurd.
He obviously doesn't stop regardless of getting called out or banned, so at this point we may as well embrace him. Give him the hugs that he doesn't get IRL. The hugs he needs to stop using those dreadful spray on eyebrows.

"I thought that my invincible power would hold the world captive, leaving me in a freedom undisturbed. Thus night and day I worked at the chain with huge fires and cruel hard strokes. When at last the work was done and the links were complete and unbreakable, I found that it held me in its grip." - Rabindranath Tagore

Do they have gender? Do they reproduce the way we do? Maybe they refer to gender and "birthright" for our benefit?
But people don't seem to be mad and are discussing this intelligently for the most part. So I guess he failed?
