We should get exp boost in the game.

I think it's about time we started getting exp boost and ways to skip the story in the game. Not to sound like a broken record or anything but, in WoW I can level to max in like 4 hours. Less if I really focus. It's not like it isn't there for a reason. It's like that so people don't spend all their time doing old content and so that they can catch up to current content. FFXIV isn't getting shorter and this is starting to become an issue. I'm not saying get rid of the story. I'm just saying why not give people the option to skip it if they don't want to do it and just want the new content? If it isn't right now, it will be daunting and very inconvenient for new players to start the game and catch up. I would like my friends to come play this game because it is fun. But, they don't have the time to invest into a story like that without feeling like they aren't getting anything done.

Just my opinion. Love Kair. <3

Edit: "Just buy a story skip" isn't an argument. New people aren't going to just drop $60 on a game to catch up to current content when they just paid $60 for the game. $120 just to play current content? Nah.

I'm assuming you mean "free" XP boosts with purchase of expansion, like in WoW? Cause you can already buy a story and level jump.

Well, it would maybe go a little far. And considering roulettes and challenge log, the main job can go really fast.

But I would welcome some kind of xp level boost (or maybe some kind of XP event) for secondary job, there is a hole in xp leveling between 8-15 since there are no dungeons and XP from guild roulette is really low. Fates leveling is a plague and Deep Dungeon as PU is not better : so silent that gives the feeling to play alone.

Many MMO have a xp boost system, FFXIV doesn't, except when they release a new server and only for the main job, the one that doesn't need xp boost -_-'

Actually all jobs wich are not your highest leveled one get a 100% Exp boost from 1 to 70 and from 70 to 80 it's a 50% boost.

Yeah. WoW has heirlooms, EQ2 (and i think eq1) has their Mentor system+powerleveling, BDO and Tera are just easy grinding mob packs. FFXIV is by far the slowest in leveling and getting to end game content. They have the "road to XX" but as you said is really only for one job. The only way to really take advantage of it is if you level one job to 69 (road to 70) and then level every other class afterwards. I believe the buff goes away once you get a job to the XX of "Road to XX".

We have less skills to manage but leveling has some kind of steps :
    8-10
    10-15 (guild roulette)
    15-20 (dungeon roulette)
    20-30 (squadron)
    30-45 (PVP)
After 45 and 50 with roulettes, tribes, PVP, daily hunt (and 70 Trust) it can go really but really fast. That's kind of a weird logic.

I know there is the Deep Dungeon but the system is way too rigid (some kind of two slots memory card is... kinda outdated?)

I wouldn't recommend skipping the story. After you catch up, you'll get loads and loads and loads more quest to skip with the next patch, losing a lot of the value of the product and now you don't have any context for what is happening. You can use NG+ to go back and do it... but at that point, why not just do it in the first place? I do think the game is a bit slow to start (thank goodness for the rework next patch), though while I know a few people who skipped everything, IMO if someone sees the story as an obstacle then maybe this isn't the right MMO for them.

I love having people come into the game and tell me their thoughts on the story so far, their experiences, their favourite characters, etc. Just today I met up with one of my companions who just started Heavensward recently and it's been a remarkable point of connection to have something we can both talk about, which is part of FFXIV's biggest selling points.

Most players have experienced the story. We've all seen the same movie and have characters we are rooting for or things to speculate on. I would never encourage anyone to buy a MSQ skip or take one for free if it was an option. I validate it as a product, only because third parties will try to sell it as a service anyways so this kind of stymies that part of the market by restricting the profit.

Hard pass. Story has a bit of filler early on that has to go, but that aside XP progression and MSQ progression are fine.

There is no good reason to skip the story. There is very little point in rushing to the endgame - not much to do there, and you will have missed 95% of the game.
Also, why worry about "catching up"? All the content is new to new players. Lots of things to do along the way.

For those who don't care about the story, I would say there are plenty of other games better suited to them.

That is not how the "Road to XX" buff works at all as someone who has had it on alts before, when you switch to a job in the level range it reactivates. You could be a level 78 WAR and switch to a 34 PLD and the buff will reactivate on the PLD as long as you are still in the window and timeframe for the buff to be applied to you.

To be fair, not everyone necessarily feels the same way. NG+ also allows everyone to do the story together compared to say, the one person at 80 following everyone around. Regardless, a free skip boils down to a personal choice. You might value hearing those experiences but it matters more if the person cares to experience them. For several people, they're only interested in raiding, crafting, playing with friends and etc. and don't give a hoot about the story while still enjoying the game itself. Personally, I don't skip but I know people who have. We both enjoy the game, just in our own way.

As for selling this as a service. That... can't really happen if a jump potion were included with the purchase of 6.0.
