This is all i can gather from face value with so little to go off of idk why people are hyped
It’s an odd choice they went with, considering Yoshi-P went and added exotic-looking locations to ARR and wanted the game to look more “Final Fantasy” after 1.0 was just “bland medieval land”. I hope we at least get some beast people or something since chocobos and summons alone can’t carry the feeling. I know he wanted to push “machinery” to the side, but I hope more fantastic elements show up to warrant the use of a numbered FF title.

Final Fantasy has mostly done away with turn-based combat for a long time though. Depending on what your opinion of “turn-based” is, we haven’t had a true turn-based FF since FFIII (ATB started in FFIV) or FFXI (or FFXII if you’re an MMO-exclusionary purist) except some cases like FFX going more traditional in the middle of all that and whatever FFXIII was.

You don’t need turn-based combat to be an RPG. The game you’re on the forums for is an MMORPG and doesn’t have turn-based combat, unless you consider the global cooldown as “turns”. And there’s other series like Diablo, Borderlands, Elder Scrolls, Witcher, Ys, Tales of, etc. which all can’t be considered anything but an RPG and don’t have turn-based combat.
