This...isn't really a source of Proof to Amnmaat's claim that they HAD to put in Viera though. Not agreeing or disagreeing. Just leaving this here.
"However, as mentioned during our Fan Festivals and via the [Letter from the Producer] streams, adding a new race is an incredibly massive undertaking, which affects all subsequent patches. After a huge amount of deliberation, we decided to implement the highly requested Viera, and a beast-like race the dev team wanted to implement, which was the Hrothgar.
I am aware of the desire to include a different gender of each of these races, but I’m afraid this feedback is not something we can easily incorporate. We are doing our best, but… that’s about all I can say now. I truly hope that everyone can understand."

Thats still not proof they "Had" to. Its a decision they made to make the players happy.
I get the wording said 'had' but saying they literally "had" to put Viera in means that they were forced to do it. Which they were not.
Of course no one is "forcing" them. Not like they are being held at gun point. I don't think Amnmaat meant it in the literal sense, either? Though it is him we're talking about, so...
Like Yoshi P said, due to player feedback, they "had" to add them. Or else people would wonder why they didn't add viera.

He could have done a better job at conveying that if that was the point. But who knows if he might try to piggyback off you since you came to his rescue.Of course no one is "forcing" them.
