Support sucks and I guess just to vent?

So here I am, a level 66. 3 different service accounts since 1.0, and I've finally made it this far into the game, and it seems like it's gonna stick. I'm starting to get hooked. The same feeling I had back in 08 while playing WoW is starting to hit me now. I decide I'm going to rework the way my character looks, to better fit what I want to be seen as, seeing as this looks like I'm in it for the long haul.

Use the fantasia, go to the re-edit character screen. After clicking on changing to a male character, the appearance editor isn't pulling up. Weird. Change another setting and try again. No dice. Back out, right click on my character, re-edit appearance is gone. Uh....what? My girl is now a guy, the base male Mi'qote, didn't get to mess with details because it didn't let me in, was probably going to go Hyur anyways, and now the edit option is gone....

I email support. They respond back with "sorry but you *did* edit your character. So there's not really an issue."

I contact the phone support. After explaining exactly what happened and why I'm kinda mad I'm out $10, and want a replacement/refund, I'm told I'm essentially SOL, they don't have a way to refund or give me another fantasia, and they deeply apologize, and I can re-purchase the fantasia and try again. Cool. Coolcoolcoolcool. Thanks guys. Really helped there.

I know this shouldn't sour my experience in game, because the game itself really has been quite enjoyable now that I've hit Heavensward content, but I've been sitting idle on my mount for the past 30 mins pissed off debating whether I want to keep playing if this is the support we get.

The thing is, you don't really have concrete proof of that happening. Yeah, it sucks. But you used a cash shop item and did click about, which they see as using the item up. For all people do know if that you changed it to that, but hastily made a decision to switching to that and want to go back. Like it really sucks for that and all, but...

One other thing you can do is, if you decide to fantasia again, making a level 1 character on any other server and mess around with that first, since you can always delete characters that you have no work into with no problem and save that character appearance.

I didn't think about making it before hand and then just using the character data. That'd be a way to make sure it doesn't happen again I suppose.

And I do get it I guess. I just assumed there would be a better system on their back end for this kind of stuff. Between the other companies I've dealt with when it comes to customer support, they tend to believe the customer (I understand this can lead to some abuse), but to not have any way to reimburse/refund/reissue something is kinda bizzare to me. The game itself wouldn't let me into the screen to edit the details, and when trying to reload the character editor, I couldn't get back in. Seems like there should be *some* recourse for technical issues when using an item.

There are 2 free phantas in the game. You can look up how to obtain them so technically you didn't have to spend $10 yet. It's a shame but it's a user error issue. I'm sure people make up a lot of stories after they decide they don't want to play a certain race or w/e and petition to get refunded so you were probably lumped in that group of people. Personally I think that if you buy a phanta, you should be allowed to change between the races you've "unlocked' but of course my idea must be too radical for SE to endorse. I think they'd sell a lot more phantas if they would permit race changing at a whim after using it once per race.

Don't you get one for defeating Ultima and then another from a quest somewhere in Coerthas or something? I remember there was a quest to obtain another fantasia outside of Ultima. Then there's the collector's edition upgrade. After looking it up, it seems there isn't a second one. What the heck? I swear there was one from this chain of quests from a guy near a chocobo keep. I must have slipped into an alternate dimension or my mind is getting old. Sorry, I swear I remember it differently. Weeeeeird.

I believe SE gave everyone at the time a free fantasia for the new race of Au Ra. That was the only time I seen a fantasia that was free asides from the CE and the completing the ARR MSQ.
