Traditionally Chemists use guns, daggers or bombs (thrown items). At least in FF Tactics where I saw them last.

Dancers used daggers in previous games, that's not the case in XIV; I believe the same won't be true about chemist in XIV.
A staff of caduceus. They'd heal by pouring their potions on the staff and whacking
their party members upside the head with it.
We have an alchemist. It makes potions. We don’t need a chemist to make ... potions...
Explosive flasks.
Yeah, there's no place for overlaping weapons.every weapon they have been known to wield also has seemingly been taken already
How could you ever tell a sword user apart from another sword user apart a third sword user apart from yet another sword user.
Chemist doesn't need to make them, it uses them in battle, an army field medic isn't out there in the middle of battle weaving bandages and brewing antiseptics just like a hospital doctor isn't going to be practising in the middle of a battlefield, you can have the same skills applied differently or used by two separate groups to achieve different goals.
Alchemist create and use potions in a controlled environment, Chemist takes them into battle to use in combat.
No different than a Blacksmith creating a sword but not being a seasoned warrior where as the Gladiator is but has no idea how to forge one.
FF traditionally have them use Guns, I personally think Chemist is abit too limiting maybe Apothecary or Medic to open more possibilities. Especially if they are going for more industrial feel ie Garleon or straight up enhanced potion pack mule feel like Thavnair
That is the dumbest response I’ve ever heard. Look at the two names. ALchemist and a chemist. It’s the same damn job doing the same damn thing.Chemist doesn't need to make them, it uses them in battle, an army field medic isn't out there in the middle of battle weaving bandages and brewing antiseptics just like a hospital doctor isn't going to be practising in the middle of a battlefield, you can have the same skills applied differently or used by two separate groups to achieve different goals.

FF already has an alchemist in its game making potions. We aren’t gonna get a potion wielding healer
