Give Chemist a sniper rifle. Hey, if it works for Xenoblade Chronicles, it can work here too.

How is that dumb? The fact that the names are similar is superficial. We could have chemist be named something different (Physician, Apothecary, Medic, Surgeon, Chemist has precedent as the classic FFT job.) but the fact that an Alchemist manufactures the product and the "Chemist" would use it in battle to heal still works to define how different they would be from one another.
Hence the other example she gave you with Blacksmith as the crafter of the sword and Gladiator like the user of the sword.
sorry you already got the crown for the dumbest response. such attitude, smh
Weapon wise, it depends on what type of gameplay Chemist ends up getting. If we are going to mix ingredients up then shoot them out to heal I can imagine the job using a sort of backpack with a chemical tank connected to an injector. It would also depend on wether we shoot compact projectiles that explode into healing lights or we spray the healing mist onto the targets like a flamethrower.
I dont see the problem , damn if they make chemist i want the same teacher as well, that guy is a badass , he is the face of inner quiet as well. We were solving mysteries during his questline he can teach us how to venture or for people who have leveled alchemist he can say we ve known each other for months and only now you think of asking me how to make explosives?
Tbf my version of chemist would be a limited job with rikkus minigame but fair enough we do need a new healer and frankly alchemy is right out busted when it appears, Free full cure , free limit break , free negate all elements , free aoe raise so im excited to see it happen if it does happen, i think yoshi p said beast master will be the second limited job .
Edit
If possible id like that it remain a job that doesnt use mana.

In the unlikely circumstance that Chemist/Apothecary actually happens, this is just me, but I'd love to see it have a grenade launcher-esque weapon. If only because I want to make m32 rotary grenade launcher memes with FFXIV.
Auto filling of course, since no other job needs consumables to do damage.

Although the word "Chemist" is an evolution of the word for the ancient magical study called "Alchemy", the Job's in the game are actually quite different, however, they do share some themes. In other Final Fantasy games, there was Combat Job called Chemist they did DPS, buffs, and Heals, they used potions and other things to do this.
Alchemy the in-game profession mixes potions, which can be traded and sold. Not much life in it, but whatever.
Chemist - seen in FFV, FFX (Rikka), FFX-2, FF Tactics, FFTA, and other games, is a healer that uses Mixed potions for great effect. But wait there's more.
- With the theme of Chemist, they can mix it with Medic (VIII), and then add in Magitek, which this game has a ton of, to produce a new unique Healer class that uses Magitek like Gunbreaker and Machinist, to heal and buff the party.
The Name of said class doesn't have to be Chemist, and I suspect that the future Chemist class will be named Medic, or another Healer or magitek class name from past games. Also, odds are if the next expansion is Garlean/Sharlayan based which is the logical conclusion based on all the info seen so far, Medic/Doctor themed class kind of fits. I also suspect that the other DPS class we see will be based on Ninja gear or Dragoon gear. As currently Ninja and Dragoon do not share their gear sets with other classes.

end of part one of my big rant... part 2 incoming.
