Genuinely ludicrous idea to release new limited titles while the botting remains as out of control as ever.

Well done lads, successfully removed a cool title to chase. I really don't understand the mentality of those who put in the effort to place top 12 last time who have torpedoed this, if you were so sick at the thought of crafting for a few hours each day, or genuinely found it disruptive to your life, why not just sit this one out? Either the grind wasn't worth it for you or the content wasn't designed for you.
This was designed to accomodate "hardcore" crafting, and regardless of how well or not it facilitated that in practice, removing the carrot and diminishing the work people previously put in by removing the exclusivity* of the old rewards runs counter to this design philosophy. Even if you agree with keeping the titles the same, surely you can see how square enix leaving it this late to communicate the change after announcing new titles in the live letter is incredibly disheartening and disruptive to those who enjoyed last season and those taking steps to prepare due to the competitive aspect of it.
Am I salty I spent yesterday wasting gil on melds, and scrip on resources I don't need anymore? Yes. Am I annoyed we won't be able to get the "saint ascendant" title anymore? Yes. Do I think square enix communicated the changes adequately? No not at all.
*I'm aware the titles aren't explicitly exclusive, but from the last live letter it was reasonable to infer from the fact that new ones were replacing them, that they would cycle in availability giving some temporary exclusivity.
-Some of us are also pvpers, raiders, RPers, FC leaders/staff, etc...
-Some of us do not want to screw over fellow crafters and gatherers
-Some of us want to do something else other than grinding ffxiv every once in a while
-Some of us had serious burnout from the last time, and it affected restoration efforts post-season
It was not healthy to keep doing, and competeing against bots is even less healthy.
Players were told before 5.21's release that no one should feel pressured to compete in the rankings the first time around because there would be multiple ranking seasons and the title would not be changing.Well done lads, successfully removed a cool title to chase. My mentality is that SE should have kept their word so those who didn't want to be pressured the first time around would get their chance. I want things to be fair instead of having the rules change after the fact.
Sorry if you need something exclusive to feel good about yourself. Personally I'm glad SE is keeping their original word so others have their chance as they were told they would.
Also, for someone who claims to be hardcore you don't seem to do much crafting if you had to buy materia. Extraction left me swimming in materia.
Edit: There's nothing preventing SE from adding the Saint Ascendant title to a future achievement. What if they were to make it a special achievement for any player who ranked in the top 12 twelve during all Shadowbringers ranking periods? We're getting the separate achievements so SE could easily track that information. And quite honestly, the title sounds a lot more fitting for someone who had accomplished that instead of just ranking top 12 in a single season.

Note on your second point you arent screwing other crafters and gathers over. But other crafter and gathers are taking your place to screw others over.-Some of us are also pvpers, raiders, RPers, FC leaders/staff, etc...

Note: Taking advice from a players alt, is like taking advice from a voice in a dark room. Criticism is a two way street remember that!!
I'm a little confused on how this is better.Edit: There's nothing preventing SE from adding the Saint Ascendant title to a future achievement. A title hunter is still screwed, especially if they didn't do season 1 because they were under the impression they could just do it later.
It's just an idea being made for comment and additional opinions/suggestions.
Maybe it's rank in top 100 instead of top 12 all seasons, or even just multiple seasons. It looks very much like we'll be having at least 4 seasons based on zone layout and current progress.
In the end, there's always going to end up being someone unhappy because whatever is done won't be what they personally want.
Just throwing this out there but aiming for rank twelve multiple times is annoying. As someone who enjoys collecting achievement points, nothing is more annoying than time-limited achievements.
I luckily secured as top 12 spot in firmament the first time, relieved I would not have to do it again as the time commitment is very high for a 9-5 boy. To my dismay theres new achievements for this season meaning I have to do it again or risk losing those achievements forever. (I already highly regret putting off original diadem and missing all those achievements)
Please square enix let firmament be a "get top 12 once and be done" I'm already going to go for all the Firmament achievements that aren't time limited, why do there have to be different time limited ones every single firmament season?
I find it interesting that originally when they mentioned the option of the title not changing (a while ago), they said that the people who originally got the title wouldnt be eligable to receive it again.
Now its a new achievement and you have people that did it once already and farmed like hell for 10 days, doing it all again for the achievement and potentially locking out other people from getting the title who didnt receive it previously.
I understand completely this is "crafter/gatherer" pvp and i'm not complaining about it, but again...its interesting that players have the opportunity to in theory lock others out from the title making it more exclusive.
