You shittin' me? Give me that - right now. That's what I want! You get it!This was my take as well.
Players may complain about how simple damage dealing is on a healer; but, they should be glad that it is. I couldn't imagine how much outcry there would be if healers had the same sort of involved rotations many damage dealers have. It would be totally nuts!
Yeah, I appreciated that, too. I used to think I understood what they meant, but then people were like "u dumb, u no nothing john snow" and tried to explain. Even with their explanations, I was all "wow, I really am dumb cuz I understand even less now." I'm not a savage raider or anything of the like, so stats really don't mean anything to me, only gameplay does. Albeit, if stats are bad in gameplay it's noticeable. If it's good, it's noticeable.
I liked the change in presentation. Nice not to stress about it beforehand, but I imagine people will still fume once full patch notes are released (depending on the changes).
I won't be coming back to FFXIV's forums. The forum vibe is way too venomous and brings out the worst in me. I don't like who I am on the forums, so it's best to distance myself.
People keep saying "Oh if everyone used a parser then they would just use it to kick underperforming players or set standards for them." Heres the thing. They're already doing that. The only difference is they're not allowed to tell you and so they just remove/kick you without a word. Wouldn't you want to know why you were kicked from a party?
Welp there you go! :>Originally Posted by The Devs!

Thank you indeed. I appreciate the gesture.
This. 100% so much this.YoshiP is a former WoW enthusiast, so no wonder why he is against the DPS meters.
But one thing does not let me go, if they are so against it why are they making savage content so dependent on good DPS then? Smells like elephant big contradiction isnt it? Why design a activity that has a real DPS "timer" in it if they are punishing people for calling out someone for the low dps?
I simply dont get, why not make it mechanically challenging by introducing some RNG mechanics instead of forcing the dps meters by the design, because thats what it boils down to when you get to end game there really isnt much things to do other than challenging the hardest content due to how poor and pathetic casual content is.
If they really wanted to make community more friendly they would take away enrage mechanic altogether making DPS less important and make supporting other players much more important. Its EVEN WORSE than that, because they are literally making the content sprinkled with enrage timer much much more important and rich and rewarding than anything else in the game, this is some next level BS design. And i have no problem with a game having extra difficulty content, but SE seems like they are pushing most of their FFXIV budget into the game modes that are the most difficult ones and requires a DPS meter to finish of.
I would love to do savage content, but I cannot fix what I don't know is broken! I want to see my DPS meters, but can't get that damn program to work- or if I finally do get it to work, it breaks a week later. I gave up.
This game makes it unnecessarily difficult for me to prepare myself for harder content so I just don't do it. This game needs to either eliminate savage content or allow DPS meters so people like me can more easily prepare for save content.

If you know your rotation, and you know you are doing it and doing it well, then you don't need a parser. You don't need a parser to judge your own performance. Are they a useful tool in the right hands? I'm sure. But I've always found that I do better when I'm not looking at some number tracker. Again, if you know you're playing your job right then you have nothing to worry about. Deleting savage? Yeah, I don't think so. I don't even do current Savage raids and I think that's a bad idea. I don't use a parser either. I don't need one.
If that's all it boils down to- "If you know your rotation and know you are doing it well" then why are you afraid of a parser? What harm does it do if all it does is let people know that all they need to do is fix their rotation? What it comes down to is this...

I'm not afraid of a parser. Not sure where you got that from. I also don't have an issue with them existing. However, I don't think that they are necessary when people can judge their own performance well enough without them. That's it. If they were to be implemented tomorrow I wouldn't bat an eye. I also wouldn't just jump to conclusions. As an aside, I have been playing WoW for about 11 years now. I am no stranger to parsers. Their existence doesn't bother me there either. I just don't use them.
There wouldn’t be a thing called Dunning-Kruger effect if it is true. People tend to overestimate their abilities or in some cases, underestimate it. And when there are min maxing, it’s harder to tell how well you do in your role in comparison to others.I'm not afraid of a parser. Not sure where you got that from.
