I would love to do savage content, but I cannot fix what I don't know is broken! I want to see my DPS meters, but can't get that damn program to work- or if I finally do get it to work, it breaks a week later. I gave up.
This game makes it unnecessarily difficult for me to prepare myself for harder content so I just don't do it. This game needs to either eliminate savage content or allow DPS meters so people like me can more easily prepare for save content.
What it comes down to is this...

If you know your rotation, and you know you are doing it and doing it well, then you don't need a parser. You don't need a parser to judge your own performance. Are they a useful tool in the right hands? I'm sure. But I've always found that I do better when I'm not looking at some number tracker. Again, if you know you're playing your job right then you have nothing to worry about. Deleting savage? Yeah, I don't think so. I don't even do current Savage raids and I think that's a bad idea. I don't use a parser either. I don't need one.

If that's all it boils down to- "If you know your rotation and know you are doing it well" then why are you afraid of a parser? What harm does it do if all it does is let people know that all they need to do is fix their rotation?

I'm not afraid of a parser. Not sure where you got that from. I also don't have an issue with them existing. However, I don't think that they are necessary when people can judge their own performance well enough without them. That's it. If they were to be implemented tomorrow I wouldn't bat an eye. I also wouldn't just jump to conclusions. As an aside, I have been playing WoW for about 11 years now. I am no stranger to parsers. Their existence doesn't bother me there either. I just don't use them.

There wouldn’t be a thing called Dunning-Kruger effect if it is true. People tend to overestimate their abilities or in some cases, underestimate it. And when there are min maxing, it’s harder to tell how well you do in your role in comparison to others.

I get that. My personal opinion is just that I don't think we need them. Some feel differently and that's okay. There's 2 sides to every debate, if not more. Parsers are a useful tool in the right hands for those who deem them necessary. When I was using one in WoW though I actually performed worse, but I do know that for some people they have the opposite effect. As a dps I'm usually in the top 5 (at the higher end of that 5, mind you) more often than not when someone posts parsing data, but what works for me may not work for others. I was just throwing it out there that performance CAN be judged without using one. Like you said though, I suppose it might not always be 100% accurate depending on the person. That's actually a fair point.

I wonder how you perfect your playstyle in Offline Games like Final Fantasy 12 or else without a programmatic parser??... jeess..

All i say is: people, play the game and not the numbers.

I am playing MMORPGs since 20 years now and still my opinion is that people shouldnt play the code and enjoy the gameplay itself.
I dont need a parser in FFX,FF12, Street fighter etc. in order to know if i am getting better or not.... thats also kind of a skill, if you have the abillity to analyze how good you are even without a third party tool.
In this sense it is also kind of cheating / modding.

And there are things in a game that shouldnt be transparent to the players as well. I am not playing a f** Excel Sheet... thanks.

In my opinion this kind of transparency / tools is extremely outdated and MMORPGs should head more into the direction of entertainment than into numbers.
Thats something that in my opinion what rpgs shouldnt be like at all.

Except you are. Combat progress is determined by math formulas, not whimsy.
