Lack of updates on Viera and Hrothgar.

It's called logic and connecting the dots. If Viera started getting a bunch of hairstyles and Hrothgar got nothing, how do you think that would be received?

For me personally, I wouldn't really care (hell, when I played male Roegadyn, he was usually always bald. Worked for the leatherman look I was going for)? The mane on the Hrothgar face I like the most is great. First thing SE should do for Hrothgar is let all manes be accessible for all faces (that way you're not spending real money for a different mane glued to a face. THAT is a huge issue that needs to be fixed ASAP).

Once they do that, I don't really care what they do next... though one thing I'd really like is to make it so Hrothgar and Viera can wear Mogstation hats (and then everything else eventually maybe). I'm otherwise really happy FFXIV has a playable beast race.

Im just surprised that they aren't even adjusting hair they've added since the release of SHB to work for hroth / viera? well. maybe not hroth since hair is tied to face but at least viera??? theyve added a few hairstyles with ishgard restoration, why not just adjust them??

on the other hand: the king slime helmet is an old old helm from like 2014. dunno why they didnt adjust that either tho

... That's legit the current situation. You realize that, right? Hrothgar got to spend RL money to change hair between the same FACE where as Viera hair is treated like normal. That's not fair nor is it the same thing. And from a design stand point it would be far easier to make Hrothgar manes seeing as they don't have highlights and mostly look like what a race of manly beast men would do if left alone to manage their hair ... big sections of hair roughly managed into something pleasing yet beastly. Viera hair? That ish gotta look like HQ human hair and we have gotten a grand total of 2 new HQ hair styles for reg races post release of Shbs.

They are not and have never been treated as equals. When they give Hrothgar new manes and faces I expect them to expect Hroths to pay up for it cause manes were legit seen as a character creation option and not as "hair". Do you think they're gonna force Viera to buy their hair on the mogstation?

As much as I hate the Viera hair situation, this is the most outrageous part about these 2 races.

I'd sadly say that this isn't going to be resolved until the next expansion, I doubt they'd touch upon it in patches (which is a shame)

Opening current hairstyles to Hroth/Viera shouldn't be that hard?
You'd then also have some people expecting the Hroth/Viera exclusive hairs for their race of choice as well.

The sad thing is, that either they have to create a hairstyle that is wearable by every race or the other races will lose out. Over the expansion we already got less and less hairstyles with each patch, giving Hrothgar and Viera special race only styles will just decrease the overall hairstyles too. (Of course I would believe that a game that big should be able to handle getting more hairstyles per patch..but its seemingly not possible..)

Of course I would be fine with getting no new hairstyle if it means that Viera and Hrothgar will finally get one of theirs but in the end its just frustrating that they have created new races that hurt the rest of the game with their limitations..

Unfortunately the community has proven that it can't handle information. Just look at sigs on this very forum for proof of that.

Since I am one of those using sigs like that: Is it that bad to want SE to stick to what they have said/promised? For me its normal that you can trust the words that are coming out of a devs mouth because otherwise something is quite wrong. If they go and say that a housing timer is from an old time and wont ever be used then is it suprising that your customer is angry that you go against that? If you say that titles for Ishgard will stay the same and people believe that and now suddenly you turn around and say that you will probably change it then this is horrible.

Should I know stare at every comment and promise the dev says and be skeptical? Things can change but 1. communicate the change fast and 2. still try to stick to it if possible and 3. communicate stuff when they are nearly done to not fall into the situation at all.

Have faith. Despite the covid, I tend to think we have good things coming our way, either soon or in 6.0. There has to be some reason why they cut back on content development compared to earlier xpacs. We have been getting less content, despite ShB being seen as a financial success. And the Nier Raid actually means less development, not more, because they have a lot pre-existing concepts and assets to use, compared to creating a raid from complete scratch. I was thinking about this over the weekend, and maybe Im being an optimist, but maybe theyre working on something big for us. I just dont think YoshiP or the devs are throwing us under the bus while they sip Champaign. If it was just about fixing Viera and Hrothgar, they couldve done that by now unless theyre stalling on it or they have something bigger planned. As in, theyre not going to bother releasing small updates if they plan on doing a large overhaul. And if theyre doing a large overhaul, it would explain a lot why things are relatively low key in terms of content and fixes.

I dont know, maybe this is a bad idea, but I think Im going to start holding my breath here. I think something good is on the way.

Are you thinking the devs might be working on a Neon Genesis:PSO2 style of update?

As much as I see where Amnmaat is coming from and agree to an extend, I also agree here. Let's be real, Viera and specially Hroth have very limited hair options, but even when the other races have wha, over 40 to chose from, 90% of people use the same ~10, so it's not just a matter of how many options they have, it's also about how good they look.

I, personally, love my Hroth as is, and just having all the existing hairs available would do for me. That said, that's another issue they may encounter - either they unlock all hairstyles for either head, or would need 8 variants of each face, and from then on, 4 variants every time they may decide to add a new hairstyle, which would probably be even more of a hot mess regarding the CC and its infamous spaghetti code.

How was that "current situation" received? They saw how almost every Hrothgar player was flabbergasted that they had to pay with a fantasia to change their hairstyle. After the reaction they have mirrored every Hrothgar/Viera decision 1:1, Nier headgear, dungeon headgear, etc.
The decisions they make at the job sound good in meetings but when they put the product out they realize they huge mistake they made. It's why 1.0 happens, something is a standard until the customers beat the dead horse to change the situation.

I went back to au ra(as it's my true calling) but when I was viera. I didn't car about hats. What I did care about what hairstyles. One of the reasons I won't ever play viera again.
