Lack of updates on Viera and Hrothgar.

I wanna start by saying that its been a year now since the two races were put into Final Fantasy XIV. They're limited compared to other races when they got released and that goes for Hrothgar even more so since they can't even change hairstyles without fantasia. There only options for Female Viera and Male Hrothgar and you can't make a Male Viera and Female Hrothgar. And to top all this off both of the races can't even wear a good chunk of hats that are available in the game.

Despite all this I'm really glad that these two races got added into the game as Viera offer some Ivalice fan service and people like bunny girls while for Hrothgar they stand out a bit compared to all the other playable races so its a nice contrast. I've been a Hrothgar this entire time since Shadowbringers early access and only changed once (more on that later) and then shortly changed back to Hrothgar.

However I'm still sad that we haven't gotten any news about the two races getting any updates. I rather they focus first on playable content especially right now due to content drought until the next patch and with COVID-19 I seriously doubt they will have that much free time to work on something like this.

Even so I still feel frustrated and sad about having the same limitations as I had since Shadowbringers came out. I mention earlier I race changed and then went back and that happen because I was getting sick of not being able to wear certain hats with the final straw being the King Slime helmet.

I wanna mention again that I became a Hrothgar since Shadowbringers Early Access and didn't race change for a year and that was because I really liked the race but I got so annoyed from lack of updates and talk about it as well.

I did end up going back to Hrothgar after going to another race after a few days mainly because I love playing the Hrothgar race. They're really cool to me and I enjoyed it a ton both because of personal enjoyment from just having my character be name after a mascot (So more or less a meme character) but also because I just like Hrothgar as a race in this world as they're just interesting to me and that can go for several races like Au Ra and Elezen.


I don't know 100% why I'm making this thread since it pretty much comes down to as "I like this race but their limitations make me sad and I understand that other content comes first and with what's going on they don't have much time to focus on this but it still makes me sad" so it probably just comes across of someone just expressing their frustrations (Or just being whiny) about lack of updates or any talk about the two races.

I guess I just wanna express my likes and dislikes with both of the races after being out for a year and in their current state and see what others have to say on this as well since I don't think I've seen much talk about this as of late especially after the last live letter.

TLDR: I like both races but sad about lack of updates

All I can say it's pretty disappointing. I was seriously hoping to hear something new about it in the Live Letter or at the least some statement as to when we could expect something. I love my Viera and won't change them and I even have an Hrothgar alt I've started taking through the SHB main story.

This silence relative to when we might expect something is not what i expected.

This isn’t my main character but I’ve been pretty much exclusively Viera since release, as I’ve always adored the Ivalice games and they felt like the perfect fit for me. But just as you said, I’m also really disappointed in the lack of hair and headgear options for both new races. It’s pretty inexcusable as they both have very humanoid heads so I don’t see where the issue is at all? It’s not like their headless or bizarrely shaped. Even if they just let the Viera ears clip through that’s better than nothing.

Also, I spent a lot of money (both in game and in real life) on bonus hairstyles so they should really focus on making those accessible for both new races first and foremost.

I know certain people are going to rush the thread telling you this is what you signed up for and how great racial-only hair/faces will be (whenever they actually add it, maybe another year from now), but it's embarrassing that in a whole year they haven't added a single thing to these races.

Guys... if they're gonna share any big info on the races they're not gonna do it in the live letter before some random patch.
Especially with how badly people want them, don't expect to see any announcements before an expac. Even if they're marketing team isn't telling them to hold onto that info for some big selling point, announcements like that typically aren't just shared whenever they're ready to be.
What they're doing to the Viera and Hrothgar isn't unusual. There were only female miqo'te in the game for the longest time, but SQEX addressed that too.
Just be patient.

This is not only about male Viera and female Hrothgar... Of course they're not gonna announce those in random live letters, but they don't need an expansion announcement to give them some more hair and faces, and lose the Fantasia for Hrothgar.

At this point, pretty much every playable race is in need of an update to the character customisation system. Let's not forget that Highlander men have been stuck without the option for real eyebrows since the launch of ARR.

Perhaps the delay is due to everything being bunched together for a major overhaul, especially since one of the game's major competitors is doing just that with its upcoming expansion.

I'd sadly say that this isn't going to be resolved until the next expansion, I doubt they'd touch upon it in patches (which is a shame)

Opening current hairstyles to Hroth/Viera shouldn't be that hard?
You'd then also have some people expecting the Hroth/Viera exclusive hairs for their race of choice as well.

I've changed to Viera since Shadowbringers launched and now I can never go back. I'm very glad they have implemented the new races but..a whole year without even a single hairstyle? This is very sad. Other races get new hair almost each bigger patch. Why not make something only for Viera/Hrothgar just once?
These are very limited races tbh. I don't care about the hats anymore. I'd just love to see some new hairstyles to choose from. Before each patch I get my hopes up and I shouldn't have cause I'm very disappointed after.

Did they even announce hairstyles for the other races...? Or finally Viera/Hrotgar NPC's for the housing NPCs? I know we get it for the mannequins but else...? Like, at least tinker some NPC lol...
