NOBODY deserves to have to stand there for 24 hours spamming the buy button in HOPES of getting one. Try actually reading next time instead of just spouting what you've heard.

Until I managed to snag a house I always logged out in my inn room. I liked the idea of my character going to sleep when I logged off.

This. I got a house about 9 months (iirc) after I started playing and it was just after they made more wards. I've since gotten one or two houses just by buying it off the placard after more housing has been implemented. Plus a couple of relocations. This last house I bought around December when there were multiple Goblet houses just laying around unused for days. No one wanted them even though I told my fc and the Novice Network. It doesn't matter if your first house is in the worst possible location because you can move it to a better one later.

Be patient. Wait for more housing and wait for this covid situation to pass. If you are going to stay in the game, you'll get a house eventually. If you are just here for the summer then apartments are an instanced housing option which are easy to access but have a couple of limitations. You could even save more gil while you wait so you can get a medium or a large house when they become available.
