If I were Square Enix I would just lock housing to FCs that have 5 people or more for 30 days, yes 30 days. Apartments should be for those wanting their own space to decorate. It's like in real life, most people don't have the funds alone to buy a 3 bedroom house on their own, it's usually a couple/family that has enough to pay for it/be eligible for it. Same rule should apply here, but instead of couple/family it would be FC.

While I disagree with you on who should be able to get housing, I think it should be ACCT based not character based. This system allows for 1 person to own 16 houses 1 personal and 1 FC for each of their 8 characters.

This is not entirely true. If you have 8 characters on one server only 1 of those characters can purchase an individual house. It is true that all 8 characters could buy a FC house if they are in a FC with a minimum of 4 characters. This is directly from housing plot. People do get around the minimum FC membership but it's not buying the house from the actual housing plot, it's "buying" the FC from an FC that owns a house.

That argument makes no sense to me. In real life people just dont buy a house on their own because they lack money but you are still able to do so if you want to. Ingame people have the Gil. Getting at least a few million gil should be not hard. Heck just play through the story, sell every item you have that you dont need and you could at least buy a small one.

Also why only at five? What about those FCs that have four people and the gil? Again even in real life you can own your own house..I do know quite a few neighbors that are living in one and are only two people.

Wards were once FC only but they had planned to give us different personal housing..but instead of doing that they just decided to open up wards for individual players too for the same costs (with less features..) because either they could not manange to create a good personal housing system or they just did not want to put into more work and did not think about the consequences of that action..in the end it was not the fault of the players but SE.
