This again... if you dont like it, then dont buy it or play it. Simpe enough. Square is a business. They have money to make and just because other MMOs dont do what they do just means they dont follow SE's business model.
SquareEnix already gives away plenty of things they DONT HAVE TO, like this Yokai watch event, or Nier, or Monster Hunter, or any of the myriad FF crossovers.
The cash shop is fine. If you dont want to pay extra you dont have to! If you want the emote then buy the statue and resell it or something.

Giving players the option to buy extraneous things is FAR from predatory.
Especially with what Ubisoft and EA and all those knuckleheads are doing, having a humble little cash shop just for fun little things seems like the wrong thing to get angry about.

Ofc not, SE could sell a lawn chair that is not predatory but locking their digital items behind these items if not predatory, then I would say they have little respect for their consumers at this blatant cash grab.

They are making money with your sub fee. Then selling you an item that belongs in the game which you are paying them to create just to put on the shop instead of putting it in the game you spent your money on.

Yes but then again why do you need to have/own everything? I feel sorry for true collectors who feel the need to own it all.

The cash shop isn't new and yeah it would be great to have nothing but in game items but that's not the way the company works or other companies for that matter now. Frankly they take advantage of us and make money doing things this way.

I have a slew of alts and most stuff isn't account wide. Should it be? Well I wish it was but there's a lot I simply do without. It's not the end of the world.

And relative to the sub fee it's not gone up since i started playing FFXIV over 6 years ago. The cash shop helps keep that sub fee low given the extra money is put back into the game.

I do not agree. You are not entitled to an item that was made specifically for mogstation, or even an emote added to some figurine. These were created for the specific purpose of being sold in this way, in the case of the mogstation they have an entire team that creates items specifically for it. Our subscription pays for what we get in-game, the update we are getting soon for instance. Remove the mogstation, these items would not exist. That's the give and take.

Personally like the idea of getting a bonus that relates to the physical item, binds some of the in game with the real world. That said I don't see why they have to be 'stuck behind' that concept.

Perhaps something like an exclusivity time period, like the fanfest items, and then it moves into the mogshop. I would suggest announcing that ahead of time though so people don't feel blindsided, if you gave people the impression that there was only one way to obtain something and then that wasn't the case.

Also ideally mogshop stuff, just as an aside comment, is loaded with things that wouldn't feel like they would normally be obtainable in game. Like if you sold other FF content, I think that's fine (although giving an event like FFXV's first makes it even better)- an aside to my aside. . . lol, I feel like it would be cool if when you buy event related items, or at least a 'pack', that you can complete the event too (being able to get the story part of the content, buy FFXV pack and get the whole thing as a unit as if you were there for the event).

I don't have to own everything, and it's not the end of the world, but speaking up against it is better than just sitting idle and not saying anything. I have been doing that for a while now, not saying anything. I do think you should be able to acquire everything in-game. Yes, I think mounts should be account-wide ofc. They do it for some of the mounts why not all. My problem with it is basically this. We are investing in a game where we are paying it money to create a product for us, the consumers, with our subs. If I gave money to a person with the intent to invest in an uber like company and they take my money on the condition that they are going to allow me to use this service with all the bells and whistles included for the locked-in price of etc. Then years they say sir you are only going to get 80% of the product now and we will sell you the rest of the service or 20%. Then they also say if you want to ride in that car you have to stay in our 5-star villa for $1000 a night. Which like you said they take advantage of us so I mean I am sure you get it, but why are we not trying to get it back. Why say nothing, do nothing. Idk I am getting the general consensus is who cares and w/e so now is just about my action. After this many replies, I can see how this is post will likely go till it fizzles out. A few games are offering this kind of promise in the future so hopefully, it's true and at least get a few years out of them. Like I said I wanted to get the community feelings. I apologize cause I am never on here and this kind of post has apparently been thrown around a few times. Its been years, I think arr beta, since I have posted here.

Items from the mog station if it did not exist would be in the game. If their only source of cash flow were our subs. Then yes they would because its an item people have requested and why would they be? Because they want to keep your sub and if you say I want this mount/minion/glamour/etc and you get enough support they will do it.

So you in that regard, they should just put every mount/minion/title/etc on the mog station.
