Did you ever stop to consider that maybe the reason why males make up the majority of gamers (by your definition) is because so many games sexualize females without also sexualizing males? It turns off female and many non-straight male buyers because their own interests aren't represented in like fashion. Balance that out and the game industry will see a surge in multiple title sales to those who aren't straight male, creating even more gamers building game libraries.

Would you stop buying games just because they started adding just as many sexualized male NPCs as they did female? Would you and other straight males somehow feel threatened if male characters started getting the same treatment that female characters get?

It doesn't matter how the genders have been traditionally viewed. Society is changing. What matters is how they should be view going forward.
Believe it or not. Most female gamers don't really care about the sexualization of female characters, as well as male gamers don't care about the sexualization of male characters. Like seeing their abs or bare ass in some games.
If anything most see it as badass when they see a female wearing a sexy outfit rather than hot as if a guy would see it.

Its honestly the media, journalist and the SJW(that don't even play the games they're complaining about) that's really putting it on the spot light.

That's not to say some girls wouldn't get uncomfortable with some female characters just like how some boys wouldn't get uncomfortable with some males but if I'm honest. Those people are the minority and most gamers don't really give a s**t as long as the game they're playing that has said imaginary is good.

Also there has never been a study to truly pin point that more males play more video games than females world wide. As far as the US goes, its about almost even.
But it is a fact that more females play more casual games than males. (facebook games, moblie games, sims).
