    Talking about skills......i don't see why WHM doesn't have "Break" and "Tornado" yet. BLM has Flare and Freeze, so WHM should have the ancient equivalent magic since they are Wind/Earth.

    Quake. And White Mage has dropped those elements, it’s unlikely to get them back. It would be a pretty silly change to take them away and then give them the elements back. Most likely they’re going to another job and they’re just keeping the Light/Umbral theme.

    And it’s certainly an interesting pitch. I’m not sure I agree with it (I can understand a uniform role action for raise along with Esuna but personally I prefer the fluff approach) but it at least seems like a more major overhaul than some suggestions.

    I haven’t picked up White Mage yet in ShB however I will say what they should do, instead of trying to make it be a “pure healer concept”, is a make it a healer that uses powerful direct Nukes (Inverse of Black Mage.) and provide defensive mitigation that is not shielding. Afflatus Rapture does this, but I’m talking about quick cast, almost in the vain of Feint and Addle. This would be in the form of Protect and Shell. I can understand why you would want to take out Medica- WHM already has access to so many heals it doesn’t need it. So, take out Medica and Fluid Aura- things that are just taking up space and give Protect and Shell.

    But wait- wasn’t Proect and Shell, and there after Proshell already removed because it wasn’t interactive? Yes I remember.

    Instead, bring these back as reactive spells. When WHM sees a boss casting a Physical Tank Buster, they would throw out protect proactively to reduce damage by like 10%. When they see an ally about to be hit by an unavoidable magic attack, they would throw out shell. These spells should have a cast time about as fast as Esuna, and with that speed of cast time, can be followed up with an Off Global Heal like Tetragrammaton.

    On the DPS side of things, I feel like there could definitely be more, but it’s something that could be built up next expansion.

    Replacing Medica and Fluid Aura with this version of Protect and Shell is something that can be done today to give WHM some identity.
