Nah, should be geomancer. The lore for Geomancer is already heavily in the game.
However they could do chemist and have its mixtures kind of like the mudra system. But I would put a prereq of needing to lvl alchemist to at least lvl 15.

That’s not how the 14 version of Geomancer works though. That would be quite the stretch from what we have already been shown in game or lore book. This isn’t a FFTA Geomancer it’s more in line with the Feng Shui Warrior aspects, which is the actual name of the class.
And just because whm lost them at higher levels, doesn’t mean anything. Having one class having used Aero/Stone/Arguably Water for years just to have another healer come in and use Qi/Malediction of Water/Aero/Stone would be odd.
This is why I think the leader of the Bozjan Resistance being a Garlean Medic is such a large hint at the healer to come. We have never had access to one, let alone one who was so successful at it, but now hates the GarleansChemist doesn't necessarily need to be implemented as a potion based job. It could just as easily be added as a rifle using job that shoots healing shells/bullets at allies and explosive/poison based shells/bullets at enemies. We already have a gun based job, of course, but that means little when there's multiple sword based jobs. I'd love for Chemist to originate from Garlemald, personally.
Unless they take pretty significant liberties, Geomancer will make for a relatively boring healer, I feel. It's just too similar to what we already have. One of the main reasons I'd love to see Chemist is because it'd be the first healer not using magic for its abilities. While the overall gameplay won't differ too greatly, it still allows for some rather unique aesthetic.
"Stand in the ashes of a trillion dead souls and ask the ghosts if honor matters."
"The silence is your answer."
Reducing Geomancer to a single nuke, a dot and an aoe would be such a disservice to the class. Where the amount of things they could do with a chemist/medic theme would be fantastic.Unless they take pretty significant liberties, Geomancer will make for a relatively boring healer, I feel. Except Healers are all part of the DoM. So it’s going to be that as well. They could make it a TA style Chemist I suppose. Great point about DoM. However we want to spin it chemistry is not magic; chemistry would fall under the DoW category. Garleans use chemistry to create monstrosities, and we know Garleans can't control aether.
Eh, you’re doing a disservice by trying to say it should be Black Mage with different elements. It’s not known for tossing out Tornado, Flood, and Quake. It’s got a lot of directions it can go but big AoE direct damage really isn’t the one it should be. In terms of possible designs it definitely has room for healing or casting, but the style you advocate for the latter isn’t fitting.
Eh, wasn’t quite the direction I meant. I just meant if we get a Chemist it’ll be... well, a mage. In robes with a mace, not tights and a gun. Maybe it’ll get a jacket and shorts like Scholar. But it’ll still be the same basic build. It’ll have spell speed, it’ll cast spells, it’ll use MP, so on and so forth.

But you can't make FFXIV jobs without lore, how would you pass a chemist as a DoM job from Garlemald by Garleans (who don't use magic)?
If Chemist gets added it'll have to be a DoW. I don't see how they can get around the lore.
Oh. I wouldn’t tie it to the Garleans. That just seems like something random people are latching on to. Allagans, Thavinair, Sharlaya. All possible answers, and others exist too.
