Hm.. at least one 'basic' set. Simple wooden furniture and plain-cloth throws and stuff.
.. Seriously I'd really like that.
Beyond that, some more Japanese style furniture would be nice. Cushions and low tables and the like. .. I want my room from Phantasy Star Universe back >.>

...so I'm guessing you liked the system where level one characters could equip level 50 gear too. Or believe that in real life you should go straight from Mommy and Daddy's McMansion to your own?And did you miss the bit where I suggested limiting it to realistic levels? I don't think there's an inn on the planet would really go, "NO, YOU CAN'T HAVE THAT PHOTO OF YOUR FAMILY ON THE BEDSIDE TABLE!" and allowing little adjustments such as that would be a nice way to tell lower level players, "No, you're not being deliberately shafted because you're not in an uber-rich endgame guild. There's just a lot more to look forward to."
The quest to obtain a home should be very detailed. Once the quest is completed, you should only own a very bland home...less fancy than the inn room you could rent. But then slowly, with either the proper skills, friends, or gils, you should be able to class up the place and make it yours. In other words, it shouldn't be something you can do in a day... rather it should be an on-going project. Like a real home.
Now as to what should be in your home?
1. Some sort of Trophy case/mantle to display favorites
2. A bed....possibly upgradable to give character bonuses
3. Comfy furniture/room for guest to gather for meetings etc.
4. A library/study for crafting bonuses (with proper furniture/gears/add-ons of course)
5. A kitchen which again can be changed/furnished in a specific way to grant special food bonuses/item bonuses.
6. A Garden that can be upgraded to grow rare materials
7. A stable to hold all your noble steeds/care for them
8. A place for your retainers to reside
9. Mc-fly storage...some that might even again work as a display.
10. Player Mailboxes/delivery
Also, maybe make it possible each others homes somehow without invite would be cool (like to help tend garden etc)

maybe we have to pay 100 millions for a house there
... I give up. How could you have failed to understand what you quoted? I'm fairly certain that part of my post actually made clear that I was suggesting some transition in customisability, with inn rooms having customisable knick-knacks and private housing having fully modifiable furnishings and decor, not demanding absolutely everything be available to everyone, free company estate or no.
That post was a response to one arguing it was realistic for inn rooms to be absolutely static beside my saying there at least ought be some very minor amount of customisability like ornaments or pictures; much less than in a proper, personal house on a free company estate with it's customisable exterior, garden, basement, fully furnishable interior..
And yes I bloody well did like the system let me equip rank 50 gear if I wanted, though given my preference was for actons and single prong'd spears I never touched a piece over r36 until very recently. Back when it was around I also argued strongly that the negative consequences of wearing over-ranked gear needed to be much worse, and also felt higher rank gear was too easily acquired in the first place. But more than that, I didn't even mention optimal levels - the point you're apparently attacking with your talk of using r50 gear at low levels was the one where I pointed out it was stupid that my character's trousers fall off when his active Discipline shifts.
Just because I'm more for believability of systems does not put me in the I WANT EVERYTHING NOW crowd. Hell, I also hit r49 way, way too fast so far as I'm concerned, and that's while trying to actively hold back, and have been happily wearing the same velveteen acton since before the optimal system was removed.
Geez.. 'wish I had the will to not respond to stupid, spiteful quips like that. But.. bleh.

Miz! My man! Say it brotha! Seriously though... you guys keep feeding us like baby birds.... The word difficult to us does not have the same definition as it does to the FFXIV team. So far, nothing in this game has been difficult by any stretch of the imagination. I dont want to earn this 'difficult task' in a week or even two weeks. We all want to work hard and earn what will rightfully be ours and look back at the crazy effort we put in to get it.Please define difficult sir... Something harder than having it handed to us after talking to an NPC? Like having to annihilate a crowd of level 1 Star Marmots on our Level 50 job? Or something where you actually have to exert ef...eff... effort. That's the word! (Forgot what the word was actually called since you rarely have to use it when playing FF14).
There is a point where you have to think about the technical side of this and look at how clearly they have to jump through hoops in order to implement anything properly with this engine and other areas of the game that need improvement then ask yourself, "Am I being unreasonable?"
Gimme a break. It's not lazy, it's just your first place. you will graduate to better places with more features as you play.Absolutely no customisability whatsoever comes off as a smidge laz
You want difficult? Try Aion housing lol. Apparently only a limited amount of people can obtain a house there...and it costs millions (Like..more then a relic in FFXI) >.>
Inns sound kinda cool...at least maybe it will be a place to have easy access to everything...? Can't wait for the housing in 2.0 though it sounds awesome ^^
