This is exactly how I would think things would go in game. Lore wise the other classes that are being compared to necromancer are just looked down on because of things like calamities caused by the misuse of the job. Black Mage quest has a conjuror coming to terms with not all black mages are destruction hungry etc. That is a huge difference in them making someone that deals with the resurrection of corpses in a hero spotlight.
