    So much yes to this.
They removed belts from 1.0 (cause for those that don't know, belts showing was a thing) and then put em danging on everything without us being able to not show them... I don't see why, I'm annoyed by most 'belt'-like parts that are there for no real reason (and I generally don't use items that have em... >.<)

I would love this option and I'm sure everyone else would too. Unfortunately, I feel like they would have some excuse as to how things are rigged to the character or something that they would use as an excuse to not do it. As a compromise, I would gladly take no more buttcapes, thousands of dangly belts, and weird asymmetrical designs on all gear in the future.

The opposite is also true, many times I'd wish I could equip only the lower part of the "chest" item, like say, the DNC af gear. It's probably to avoid potential clipping (also spaghetti code?) but part of the whole point of glamours is to mix and match pieces. Plus we do need more leg slots that aren't generic pants or literal dresses, hence why the Dalmascan pants were a welcomed addition.

I would definitely love to see a toggle for body gear - not necessarily waist elements but affecting something, whether it's sashes or collars or pauldrons or any assortment of pieces that can ruin a nice outfit.

And/or a return to visible waist slot items, which would be fantastic for mix-and-matching. I know they stopped doing it so they wouldn't have to design everything with space for belts, but it could work like the sash part of pants (and certain ruffled skirts!) does now, automatically hiding waist gear when combined with designated body pieces.

Considering what modders have discovered regarding how the game's 3D models work in the back end, that is 100% the excuse they would give.

Because fulfilling it would require a massive uplifting of how their 3D models interact with gear slots, and would require them to retroactively go back and edit every single piece that had any sort of 'waist/below the waist' accessory bit, for every single variation of the gear that exists due to how there's separate models for each gear piece depending on race build types. It could lead to thousands of reworked models needing to be changed, which if they haven't even given Hrothgar/Viera headpieces yet that already require similar re-works, is basically hoping for the impossible.

Your compromise however, would be entirely within the realms of possible if enough players spoke up about it.

I remember when belts showed in 1.0. some were cool some not so much haha I always remembered the plate belt have plates on the side I was a tad disappointed they turned them off model wise. Kind of wish they were still visible or optional to see.

    You have my vote!

I Just started ff14 recently, and i could have used this as an option. I set up my character to look like a lunar sage/moon mage. I play a keeper of the moon, my characters design Inspired from Yue from the anime/manga Cardcaptor sakura. Ended up buying not 1 but 2 mogstation outfits to fit the look, due to most the tops/bottoms having a waist wrap that didn't dye well, or was too ornate.

to add so people know what im talking about.
    My inspiration:

My glam: (sorry if image is huge)

i saw a lot of tops, that looked more fitting, such as the dalmasca top, the thavnarian top the dalmasca bottoms, but all had a funky wait wrap, or ornate waist fixtures.

Ah...yes the many armors that have a bunch of daggers hanging from them for absolutely no reason.

It's really unfortunate. Like the poster above you says as well, ones with pieces that don't dye well. So many tops and glam opportunities ruined. If there's some accessory that has an off color... I literally can't use it.

A top I like but summarizes those two points is the Forgiven's Chestpiece of Striking:

It's dyeable, the top part looks really nice but a rigid scarf that goes off in front of the right leg and fabric on the left clipping both the sword and the hand totally ruins it.
