I think Elezen are the weird looking elves of the game (I think they look like giraffes) and viera are the 'night elves' of the game (Who look WAY better than night elves)I think the Elf models look fine, the weird proportions to me make them look unique to this game. Plus from what Ive seen they are still popular despite this, and outside of the handful of people here in this thread Ive never seen anybody really want the proportions changed.
Id say more then 'updating' the proportions, they need to Update Creation Options. Heck every race could use more options: Faces mostly, facial hair and scars to.
True enough, in the grand scheme more people would probably play the race.. However, I think it's too late for any major adjustments. The look of elezen is kind of ingrained now. I could see maybe some minor adjustments like new faces or racial hairs, just nothing that alters their core design. Even if they could conceivably adjust all outfits to the new models, or some other way. Maybe the elf race in their next MMORPG.

resource is no a real issue in my view, FF14 is in a great place, they can afford to hire more people to do the work to improve character creation, including the missing gender. But I would sacrifice a dungeon or a alliance raid for those two missing gender in a blink, I care more for character creation in RPGs, but I don't think it's needed to sacrifice one thing for the other.
I was flying around Rak'tika today and noticed Bow rest. - do you think this is a Male Viera camp or an outpost for FV - I couldn't quite make up my mind. But I did think it would be interesting if it was.
Elezen look stupid.
I 100% support male bunnies. I would never play one myself, but why shouldn't people be afforded that option?
it both is and isn't an issue. FFXIV generates a LOT of money for SquareEnix, but we also know that not all that money they bring in gets reinvested back into the game. It's treated like a cash cow they can use to pull money to fund other projects. So to that end, the game only gets the resources that the higher-ups allow it to have, and nothing more. So when Yoshida is telling us he doesn't have the resources to do what the players are asking for, he's also telling the developers that players want more from the game, and they should consider giving that to him.resource is no a real issue in my view, FF14 is in a great place, they can afford to hire more people to do the work to improve character creation, including the missing gender. That is not how running a business works, or working on a project within a larger company. FFXIV does pull in tons of money, but FFXIV is not the only project being worked on within SE, they are given a budget and they have to work within that budget end of story. Putting more resources into character development will take resources away from something else. Also, we do not even know if Yoshi-P is free to allocate the budget without corporate approval which would toss another bone into the mix. It is a give and take. You may feel it one can live without giving up on another, but sadly that is not how it is when you work on a project within a company that has many projects going on.resource is no a real issue in my view, FF14 is in a great place, they can afford to hire more people to do the work to improve character creation, including the missing gender. Different story if FFXIV was the only thing SE was working on. I do not envy their position, and the choices they have to make.

Youre kinda proving my point? You scaled it to headsize yes? Look at Torso lenghts, Limb Lengths, Etc. They are not the same, and no it's not just "a pose thing". The torso and limb differences generate different proportions which can ruin the design aesthetics. Check it out:They squared her shoulders and then shortened her neck, all of which can be excused by the concept art striking a pose. Then they just shrunk her, particularly her torso.

This is a lot closer in posing, and the head, chin, shoulder, and bust line appears very similar. The only real big differences I see is the torso/leg length, and it's like....2 ilms in difference at most, and that still might be pose excusable. There's differences, but they aren't drastic.
Both are what...Roughly 9 headlengths, though the concept is a touch shorter. Lets say that is pose differences. Fine.
Check now the Torso length comparisons. This is from the pit of the clavicle to the crotch. They end in different spots, with the in game being longer. That change has a knock on effect. Check where another Torso length ends - On the concept art, roughly at the knees but in game its midway down the shins. In concept art, tall elegant characters tend to actually follow the left a lot more closely, choosing to elongate the legs to give height. In reality, the in game model is a bit more accurate to real life - Torsos length roughly ends around mid to lower shin, depending how tall or stocky the character is.
What I suspect, honestly, is the elezen model is a modified model of the Hyur (which would make sense from a production stand point). Thats why the proportions arent the same between the concept and final. Most people I feel frankly would agree that aesthetically the concept designs proportions are nicer. They feel more balanced. The in game model feels off. Part of the reason perhaps the neck feels so long on elezen is that compared to the torso and head sizes, it feels off.
The neck is really long on all the races, and it looks really weird at certain angles. Elezen it's just pronounced with their tiny heads and broad shoulders.

You do have a good point, but we also have to considerer that investment in character development is not waste of money, sell itens in the store like fantasia will make a tons of money, if nerd behide a computer can make a decent mod for customization a company can do it too, I work with IT a long time and I do know what I'm talking about, the only diference is how much the company is willing to do it or not. , if it was up to me I would preferer a upgrade in character creation (more hair. beard, etc) them develop a limited-job like blue mage, I'm sure a lot of people in the community feel the way I do, There is only one way to measure how to prioritize content and that is ask the community for feedback. That is not how running a business works, or working on a project within a larger company.
