Today's story comes with a request.

I was grinding Poetics to outfit my level 50 WHM with Ironworks gear. So I went to the main story roulette, and ended up at The Praetorium. I was playing as the WHM, and I was paired with a SCH. The thing is, I had never played with another healer before, so for a lot of the run I wasn't sure what to do. I even died at one point out of getting overwhelmed by the enemies. The SCH made up for my failings, but I did feel bad about. So the request in question: as a WHM, what is the best behavior when playing with other healers?

As a WHM in normal circumstances aka not the MSQ roullete your best behavior when paired with another healer is to first figure out what variety of healing you're dealing with SCH (which igroup damage mitigation or AST (can be that or regens like whm.

Typically as a WHM you'll most likely be doing the beefier part of the healing and leaving the SCH to deal with leftovers and top ups since their your off healer in that example. but MSQ stuff is so easy it can be 4 manned now. so that's probably not the best place to practice any real sort of strat other than learning a basic idea. safe rule to go by is if they want to do a majority of the healing don't fight them on that since you're both going to chew mp overhealing all the time. but do make sure to heal people in dire need if they got missed.

Wow. This is the type of ignorance that annoys tanks. DPS that have no clue and run ahead pulling more groups than planned or easily avoided pats (intentionally or accidently) are what's dumb. Why should a tank have to work even harder because you can't do your only job: damage the enemies that are focused on the tank. Sure, at max level tanks shouldn't have any problem with this happening (still annoying) but everyone seems to forget that there are new players, or existing player leveling their first tank, running lower level dungeons that are still learning what to do.

Being a self-centered "me me me" dps that doesn't give a crap about anyone else is a big reason why tanks don't want to use the duty finder

To be precise, the SCH in that run put themselves as a barrier caster. So in times like those, I suppose I focus on DPS and heal anyone that has their barrier fall off. At least, that's the arrangement we settled on to get through. In an MMO, the right thing to do is going to be reliant on the people around you. This feels like it goes double for healers, because we need good communication to make the job easier.

I get that you're just trolling or being edgy or flexing behind your anonymity or whatever you want to call it, but you might want to put more effort into your reasoning. Calling this a team game and then saying you can do whatever you want in the same breath is laughably bad logic.

As a tank, feel free to do that. But don't expect me to take them off you. I pull what the party can deal with(looking at all the people who don't AoE, or the SCH who think their fairy can do ALL the healing while I use every single CD available and still die).

Two disastrous healers today.

Expert roulette and get Anamnesis Anyder, everyone says hi, except the healer who decides the greeting is “I’m streaming over on Twitch xxx, come hang out!”. I ignore it, and go through normally. First pull after the first boss I have to Hallowed to survive as the healer is running round in circles. I decide at the second boss to ask whether to pull everything after and let the adds pop. Healer again says you can come and hang out in chat. I facepalm and go for it, make it through thanks to good dps (and one who won my commendation for using the LB) whilst the healer again runs in circles. Get to the final boss, healer goes down when we deal with 2 sets of slams and I heal the remainder.

Levelling roulette on DRK, get a conjurer on level in Tam Tara. Ok, it’s TTD, you basically can’t do it wrong. Get to the first boss and I’m getting worried. Haven’t had a heal throughout, I’m down to 75 HP, no cooldowns left. 50 HP and I’m asking the healer (who is moving around) for heals. 20 HP and I’m jumping on him. Dead. In Tam Tara. DPS takes over tanking and is left to die as well. Healer spams stone. Boss finally goes down and I decide to check the healer. 5 level 80 classes including AST.

Edit: third one was my fault. Got Neverreap, I forgot Waukkeon’s attack after adds is a knock back. Group follows me (tank) to a nice edge of the arena opposite the boss. My bad.

Just an FYI, SCH will always be a shield healer. AST is the only class that can switch. And shields don't stack, so if you get SCH/SCH, it sucks.

I used it on a bard during Amon to bring him to the safe spot during Curtain Call.

He walks right back out from cover and dies. Sometimes people just can't be saved.

Is that the one with the black AoE? I've only done this one once, but I died twice when I saw black AoE and stepped out of it thinking it was going to murder me. Probably a noob mistake on my part.

Anyway tales of DF, today's tale is how bad I was. :P I probably caused a wipe today at Labyrinth. I did two extreme primal fights yesterday (5 rounds) and probably used up all my skills then. So today, whether it's fatigue or whatever, I was awful. I should probably not queue when feeling like that.

I have no dog in this fight.. but with what you just said here... couldn't he use the same text against you? Aren't you doing the same thing he is by stating " I can do what I want" Tho claiming it to be a team game?

This one isn't too terrible but it made me salty so whatever. Figured I'd level my 70 PLD because dps q's are yikes and healers are boring. Got Sirensong Sea, figured it'd be ez because... well, Sirensong Sea, but my SCH had other ideas. I obviously went for wall-to-wall pulls as every tank should but man this SCH could barely, just barely manage it. I died on prisoner adds due to Adlo spam and fairy healing obviously not being enough. Got a nice "sorry tools for tank healing are not good at this level" afterwards which is.... not true??? SCH should have 0 problems with any content at any level but okay, blame your class I guess?

I think they just didn't do their class quests because I saw 0 Sacred Soil, Dissipation, Emergency Tactics, etc. Yikes.
