Very bad move.
Very bad move.
This is what made me the most excited about the whole LL!
I wish for flight to also be allowed in residential areas, though I actually doubt that'll be the case.

I'm not against it but why? The zones are so small. If this added new content it would be nice. Even if it's just "worldling" content, like out of the way peaks where you see new scenery or find weird hermits, or a magical lake. Even in the zones where you can fly now there are tons of places you can't land. Maybe I want to stand on a mountain and play an epic lute solo?![]()
My guess is for the sake of consistency since every expansion zone has flying enabled. That said there's a lot of fiddling they likely are going to have to do to make it work, as places like the East Shroud in particular weren't modeled with flight in mind.I'm not against it but why? ^ From the old out of bounds glitch in East Shroud. Makes me wonder how much 'patch up work' they had to do to make the zones presentable, since Mor Dhona had similar issues if you ever attempted it's out of bounds trick as well.

That's kinda what I mean: It just seems like a lot of work for consistency sake. It's what Blizzard had to do. Though the necessity of it was debatable, they definitely added and changed things enough so that it had some semblance of purpose. Even if they don't add anything with this patch, I hope they do something. My guess is for the sake of consistency since every expansion zone has flying enabled. Right now there are several places you can see but not get too, like the ravine under the bridge in Eastern La Noscea. Likely flight will just let you go down and hover.
How is that negative? The logic is as sound as not being able take five eggs from a basket that contains only four. Any and all time spent towards reworking old content is all time not spent on new content. There is no getting around that. How important was getting flying in the arr zones? You think the majority of players would take it over something like deep dungeon, or getting more 4 man dungeons during an expansion? These are things we've had to forego thus far.
To summarise various points: It kills can kill the exploration-taxonomy in maps, reduces the number of travelers on the map's land routes (socializer-taxonomy), and the flight system prioritizes A to B travel and ease of movement in an objective based system (no adventure, over trivializes aspects of travel example: bofuri ep 7 angel mode quest)
Yes, flying is more important. This is the last time they can get it set up before Spaghetti Code reaches a point to where it may be near impossible. I for one welcome this, it'll help speed up the horrors of ARR and allow more people to experience the joys of HW, SB, and ShB. Besides, this IS a good excuse as to why the other things were put on hold, it means they don't need to do this for any other areas in the game and can now concentrate on newer content. Better now then later. How is that negative? The logic is as sound as not being able take five eggs from a basket that contains only four. One of the main strengths of FF is the ability they have mastered to make even the oldest content and areas have meaning. Even going back for a small quest keeps the community engaged.
Nothing kills a game for a newer player than empty early zones. The fact that we are seeing so many sprouts lately in these areas gives vitality to these areas and keeps the game alive.
That will be lost with thos and it may take a while, but it will affect the game in the long run.
