I wonder how many of us are from FFXI thats still playing FFXIV. I can still count on one hand how many Ive met that are FFXI vets. Would it be worth it for so few people, especially when the full game is still going?
There's still so much unexplored and inaccessible territories in Hydaelyn, only held back because they're not relevant to the MSQ for the time being. I really wish they started to make more zones just for the sake of them existing and eventually using them for content.
And to be honest, if you want Vana'diel, just play FFXI. The game itself already does it justice with its own world. I don't see a need for it to be in FFXIV.

New World and Meracydia are too big I think to be included in the story arc Hydaelyn/Zodiark, but sure it will be the next lands to visit for the further arc.
The interesting note is we are on the land that the allagan empire has conquered, the most powerful empire that the source has known (from what we were told) and yet, they have been defeated by people on Meracydia.
So, it's highly probably that incredible foes await us there (with one of the brood of Midgardsormr), and I speculate on an Egyptian theme there (like some beast in FFXIII : Lightning Return).
For our actual arc, the remaining places to visit are Old Sharlayan, Thavnair, Garlemald, West Othard, East Koshu at least.
Don't need another shard, or another continent to throw in 6.0 and 7.0.
We might see the Moon, but don't know how they will handle this.

There are so many places on the Source we still didn't explore that, I suspect, they can give a birth to at least 2 more expansions by themselves. There's a good chance that 6.0 will be focused on the Empire - at least right now it's all leading to this. But personally, I want to visit Meracydia and Old Sharlayan the most, with also exploring more of the Azime Steppes and Far East region.

Let's not forget the Black Rose, or the Resonant. It's probable that someone is going to come out on top in the power struggle that's happening in the capital sooner then later, and I think it's likely that they're going to issue a swift retaliatory strike against Eorzea and its allies after what the general populace of Garlemald perceived as a surgical strike against their rulership (Assuming they don't wise up and figure out Zenos was the real culprit).
Their research is also starting to go off into very dangerous territory that's making them an even bigger threat to everyone then before (Themselves included). The artificial primals involved in the Weapon project seem like something that could snowball into a potentially Calamity-inducing problem if Ascian foolery gets involved.
I'm preety sure the beast in question is the Shabti, which incidentally is encountered a few times in Allagan areas such as Azys Lla.

That's been conveniently left out of the patches plots (at least for the Black Rose). Well, I imagine our actions did bring back some balance in the Ether on the Source, which would make Black Rose less efficient as it would thrive on overaspescted Light Ether, right? It's still deadly though. But with no one in charge of Garlemald, we can't say what is going to happen with it. I'm not even sure, do all people in Garlemald really know about Black Rose even existing? There was a weird secrecy about it.
The Resonant however has kind of been shut down in Stormblood in itself no? We killed the guy who was in charge of it, and I can only think of two people having it: Fordola (now in jail, and she kinda became nice) and Zenos (soon to be dead I guess). Honestly Zenos has already greatly outlived his relevance for me, I hope his plot is over in 5.3.
Then someone will propbably come out victorious of the civil war-like situation in Garlemald, but if I remember correctly the last time this situation happened it was almost a disaster for the Empire (I think I remember that from 4.4 ? when Solus and Varis are talking). So things could go for the worst this time around.

Considering what SE did in RE7R, I truly believed this is feasible. All they need to do is to use pre CoP section and replace Athene with Hydelyn and vice versa. It is really amazing if you imagine all the belived FF11 NPC now with voice. Beside, it is not first time that SE allows to let main number FF tittles sharing same world. For example, FF10 and FF7 is the same world and so is FF13 and FF15

Even if Vana'diel exists on one of the other shards, I don't think we're going shard hopping. They can't keep up the calamity prevention team-thing going forever. There is eventually going to have be other stakes at play, and whatever those are, they will take place on the source.
Personally, I don't want to see these two worlds combined. XI is part of my past, and I've moved on.

i agree as an xi vet seeign that would on shard i don't know mix feels yeah it would nice tos ee old ocals again but whan't something newer be better?

FF7 and 10 are not the same world. If Shinra from VII is related to Shinra from X but there is this whole space travel element and what not. They are not, in fact, the same worlds and iirc the info is not actually canon as of yet. The mask in FF7R, means nothing really and would even prove that X and VII could not be the same world, unless the little Al Bhed himself is 10s or hundreds of thousands of years old.Considering what SE did in RE7R, I truly believed this is feasible. XIII and XV are only connected by the fact XV used to be XIII versus and they used some of the original lore and themes, again not the same world.
The games are all in the same multiverse, but none share worlds unless they are a continuation of a previous title. Like X and X-2 or XIII and all of its sequels.
And making Altana, Hydaelyn would retcon nearly all of FFXI lore, which again, would be a disservice.
This is a whole lot of stretching, wishful thinking and reddit conspiracies.
