Inb4 after all this speculation there's some loop-closing switcheroo, like Eighth Umbral G'raha using his blood (confirmed to be the catalyst between the spiritual aether - soul, mind, and memory - and corporeal aether - the body) to transfer his memories to Source G'raha, who wakes up one day, goes back in time trusting his visions and having faith in the narrative that this is how it has to be, and now that loop is "the way it always was" (from the illusory 3D perspective where time isn't all happening at once). The Eighth Umbral Era, an "illusion" that "never happened".

But then how did all that Ironworks stuff get into the basement. Bah.

Sounds like someone just finished FF7: Remake.

I think Mikoto's "futuresight" could be given an alternative explanation that skirts around literal visions of the future. Borrowing a tiny bit from FFXIV's red-headed step-sibling Granblue Fantasy, but when they introduced a character with the same "future sight," the literal mechanism was closer to high-speed, high-data-volume analysis. Basically, said character could take into account the past and present state of everything (with the assistance of an artificial god tailor-made for this purpose), and mathematically project the subsequent state, and repeat this to the point that a short-term view ahead was possible.

If that were taken along with the classical mechanics of the Echo as we know it (we had Echo'd into Cid in the past, therefore our souls had been connected), as well as what Mikoto knew at present (we needed to find someone who was at Bozja)... Maybe, just maybe that would give her Echo ability enough data to calculate us bringing Cid in, as well as have a glimpse of his particular hang-up.

I say "could" in that it would be a way to explain it without digging the hole deeper. It would also explain her inability to predict impending peril, as the ability could not be triggered by events outside her immediate awareness.

(I also really don't like thinking about all the different ways we could lose G'raha forever, again, come June/July, so excuse me for trying to course correct.)

We're still doing the whole everything happening in a single year right now? We all know it has been much longer than a year in story, but they still seem to push this forward. I hate it, I absolutely hate it. Get a timeline already Yoshi-P!

Gabranth mentioned "The Lady of Blades". Are...are we getting Gunnhildr as a primal battle!?
I’m guessing Asura, who appears in other FF titles, but I could be wrong

*Will Smith hand point/wave gesture at Minority Report*

The introduction of her identical, but better in every way, twin could also lead us to see a vision alongside each of them. This could introduce conflicting futuresights. How cheeky would it be for each of them to have a futuresight, believing it was about themselves or each other, and then they try to prevent what is to come, because despite futuresight being extrasensory in nature, it's still limited by physical sight. hehehe

As for Moenbryda, I feel like if they were going to do it, it would be from needing to pilfer around in Urianger's memory.

Anyone else notice the fact that
When we are in Cid's mind, at the final boss battle, when he is told to conjure up some memories to help fight the Emperor, he remembers everyone as they are in The First and not how they are in Eorzea? Also he remembers Rynne whom he never even met... the Devs kinda dropped the ball on that one.

Wasn't it our character that imagined up the Scions there? However that's supposed to work when we're in Cid's mind.

The answer is yes and the details are non-existent. Probably something to do with it being the sort of memory where changes can happen and our Echo, but that's just speculation without proof... aka wild guessing.

I'll always be salty that _Gabranth_ in a plot closely related to an Ivalice instance leads the IVth. There goes a pure IV plot out of the window.

OK, Asura may be related, but the sweet sauce of IV will always be so many side-changes no one can pinpoint which side they're on. Now it's demoted to support a XII McGuffin.

Oh, the XIIth is taken by Zenos? As Italian Spider-Man once wisely said, "though luck pussycat". Should've taken the XIIIth or something. Boo!

Maybe First G'raha will send a message to Source G'raha that leads him to create NOAH and investigate the Crystal Tower in the first place, creating a time loop.
