Glamour Log please. Just want to play the game...

Its 400. They doubled it almost a year ago lol...

*shrug* I said I was a casual glam person, sue me.

Even at 400, I could see a serious glam person filling that up easy. I have almost 10% of it and I haven't even been trying to collect much in the way of glams, just a few outfits because I got tired of mish-mash levelling outfits and/or had the occasional idea.

Just to give you an idea.... let's say you really like the wolf sets and want them for all of your jobs, just as a quick example, and let's say you only do the Helm/Body/Gloves/Legs/Boots. That's 5 per set and there's Tank, Healer, Caster, Ranged, DRG, NIN, SAM/MNK.

That's 35 glam slots for just 1 set of armor for all the jobs.

That ain't gonna last long if they keep releasing nice sets of armor.

I got every piece of armor from The Copied Factory. I was wearing that on all jobs until they added Neo-Ishgardian gear and I crafted several of those sets to wear. But I'm never going to throw that Nier gear away.

Currently praying the next Nier raid has some boxy machine lifeform gear instead just so I don't feel compelled to collect every set.

I took up those extra slots the day they doubled it. As did many others. When the glamour dresser was implemented nearly four years ago, they said it would get updates in the future. Other than placing the dresser in additional locations, the slot and plate increase has only received one upgrade. They know this is an issue. They just don't want to do anything about it. It's too bad. I'm willing to bet that modernizing the glamour system would easily extend the life of FFXIV by an additional expansion at the very least. They seriously underestimate just how much importance players put on glamour.

They've given many plausible reasons as to why there are problems with just cranking the inventory dial to 10.

Yeah the whole system could use a rework from the ground up.. but are we as a playerbase willing to deal with what doing that entails?

Their plausible reasons have so far been excuses. First it was an issue with how much storage space that is needed on the servers. Then it's an issue with how much more taxing it would be on the servers reading/writing to the log.

Both issues would easily be solved by simply requiring us to collect the entire armor set before it's unlocked, then just for armors it wouldn't need more than 2-3x the storage space as they use for just the fishing log.

Want to crunch it even more? Make us require the entire tier of sets for all roles and jobs before it's unlocked. And now it's reduced to a total of 5*7 times less storage needed than it would need for every individual item.

Both the inventory expansion and glamour dresser is putting a significantly more strain on the servers than if they had just implemented a proper system from the go.

Technical limitations are always getting in the way.
I do honestly believe they are trying to make everything work better, but they probably cannot push past the problems the coding and the engine gives them without doing a major rework here.

Could they work towards that? Sure.
But how much will that drain on resources until it's ready for live?

No. They do care and are constantly trying to find ways of adding more ways to store things, but being able to make room is not an easy thing to do when when you have hundreds of millions of characters you need to give storage enhancements to.

They do not underestimate how much importance some players put into glamour. Most players seriously underestimate how resource intensive their "simple" ideas are. Even a simple boolean Glamour Log would end up increasing total character data by Terabytes and they would need to be constaintly increasing that amount of data whenever they add new gear.

"Modernization" by creation of a Glamour Log is untenable for FFXIV.
