LOTA is a level 50 raid you are over geared with level 70 gear.Tonight I finished gathering and crafting a set of ilevel 70 armor and accessories to use for when I get LotA and ST. I figured if I get stuck with this crap, I may as well try to make things more interesting and spiritbond some materia in the process. I also have other plans for how to make the raids more interesting.
That's cute, you think I'm stuck in here with you. In reality, you're stuck in here with me!
Yeah, we'll see how it plays out. This is a work in progress. If I need to lower my ilevel, I will. I want to compare my stats with others and then go from there.
I like the idea of keeping it within reason. When CT was released, we had several people running around in i90 gear from Binding Coil of Bahamut. i70 sounded like a good compromise to also get spiritbonds, especially if I don't want to have more than one set to use for ST as well.
There are people in lv80 content right now who don't know what to do with markers and jump potioners who missed literally every primal and mechanics reused for current content.
I wouldn't mind if at the least they made a min-ilvl alliance raid roulette. That could be fun.
The game shouldn't be mind-numbingly easy so that people who don't even care about or enjoy the content in itself can get their reward faster. If it were made more difficult and you stopped doing it because you didn't actually like lv50 alliance raids in the first place, then it would be working as intended. Alliance raid should be designed for people who enjoy Alliance raids, not for the people who like easy rewards.Alliance Raid Roulette is one I do for poetics, and only for that reason. If it were made more difficult, thus making it take longer and requiring me to actually pay attention, I would stop doing it. I have plenty other options for challenge, I don't need, nor want, it from outdated raid content.
Every reasonably balanced piece of content has this problem. I've had bad runs of dungeons, NM raids, PotD, and current alliance raids, why is it suddenly a problem for alliance roulette? That's what challenge and improvement is. If one person is trolling, you can kick them, but 9/10 it's recoverable if the other two tanks and the healers are smart. These aren't, and never have been, particularly difficult raids, but at least you needed a pulse to beat them beforeHmm think you missed what I am saying. I am talking about tanks who pull iron gaints to meteors on King Behemoth letting entire groups get cleaved. Repeatedly wiping to ancient flare cause a bunch of tards wont run to pads that kind of nonsense. WoD people grabbing chains and not hooking them to cereberus..ya had this one happen once. Healers not healing during the mass aoe on bone dragon. The simple one person will die stuff who cares its the kill multiple people or the whole raid mechanics that people need to think about. Are you ready to tolerate one or more people repeatedly failing simple mechanics wiping the raid over and over?
Its not bad just reminding everyone. But why just alliance roulette if people are so gung ho for this why not all the roulettesEvery reasonably balanced piece of content has this problem. Fair, but the daily alliance roulette (like many others) isn't designed for fun or challenge. Its there to fill up queues and to keep old content completable by dipping in the daily tome farming crowd. From SEs point of view, it is doing its job just fine. They have no reason to gamble with the roulette health to satisfy an unknown portion of the player base and potentially dissatisfy the people currently keeping it populated. The game shouldn't be mind-numbingly easy so that people who don't even care about or enjoy the content in itself can get their reward faster. No need to fix something that isn't broken and all that. It also doesn't help the argument that its old content.
They could give us a separate min ilvl roulette, but I have the sneaking suspicion that without astronomical rewards, it would be dead within the first few weeks.
Well that kind of thing can happen anywhere. I'm sure if the whole raid wipes because of one person people would be willing to wait for the loot to kick that person and proceed without any more problems.Hmm think you missed what I am saying. I'm repeating myself so much in this thread but why exactly can we not have both rewards/exp and fun? Why does content have to be only for grind or only for fun? It doesn't make sense to me, all content should be fun to some extent.Fair, but the daily alliance roulette (like many others) isn't designed for fun or challenge. Also yes, it is broken. Every day people take off their gear to get LotA and ST. This is very broken imo.
So if they're not planning on making these two less boring then they should at least prevent people from cheating their way into them so we can at least get more fun and challenging raids (aka 70/80) more often.
We could have both, and maybe we will. But I was trying to point out that to SE its not an issue. The roulette is healthy, new people can queue to ARR, HW and SB alliance raid, and get in just fine. To them, the roulette is doing what its designed to do. They have a very standoffish relationship with old content, and when they actually do touch them, its usually to make it more accessible (usually a code word for nerfing)....

But I'm rambling again. What I'm trying to get at, is that we could probably pump this thread to hundreds of pages, all posts with unilateral agreement on the subject, and SE still wouldn't care. It fulfills its primary objective, so it's fine.
And if that's their design philosophy, they aren't technically wrong.
