You "dont feel" the frame drops because you are probably playing on fps compensating TV.Factually incorrect. I'll repeat once more: the only time XIV frame drops on PS4 is in heavily crowded areas like Eulmore. My PS4 has 0 frame drops even in the 24-player raids. You say GoW is heavily instanced? Fine. Witcher 3, SpiderMan, and Horizon are all big open world games, and they have stable 30 fps. No drops.
Again, not defending the Jaguar CPU, but PS4 games are optimized so well that they only experience drops in MMOs and online games when too many players are on the screen at once (hubs). But this is something that even happens on lower end PCs.
So please stop talking out of your arse.
Standard PS4 is set to run the ffxiv in 60 fps, but it does not hit that target and it drops heavily down to 40 fps even in empty town.

PS4 is limiting factor for FFXIV development and its straight out fact, its too weak to hold this perfectly optimized game, which uses multicore architecture on all systems. Like it or not, SE wont make FFXIV better than it is unless they will drop ps4 support altogether.

A PS4 Pro runs things just fine. A regular PS4 though? Yeah, that might be a bit of an issue, but they probably can't dump support from one while leaving the other intact, at least not until PS5 support is a thing and enough people have one to justify them dropping PS4 support entirely. Also in fairness, I have yet to see any benefit to them dropping PS3 and 32 bit PC support which was far more limiting to the game's development. I'm sure there's a fair amount of ugrading that they could do but simply choose not to.You "dont feel" the frame drops because you are probably playing on fps compensating TV.

This is my point, ps 4 is too weak to handle any graphics upgrades to the game.A PS4 Pro runs things just fine. A regular PS4 though? SE would have to change game engine and let the game run sub 30 fps (like eso) if they want to make it look nicer than it is, which is not going to happen, ever.
And they want to release the game on xbox one, which is even worse.

I was under the impression that we could not have gotten the large zones we did in Stormblood and Shadowbringers if PS3 support wasn't discontinued.

It's not PS4 holding the game back. It's people using older PCs. My own PC meets the minimum specs to run the game, but chokes on it in anything busier than a 4-man instance. That's why I play on console.
They drop PS4 support then guess what.... they lose more then half it's playerbase. And no, when games way more demanding can play without any hangups the PS4 is not the limiting factor. Not when walmart laptops ARE the limiting factor... and the fact this game has coding issues. But sure, lets blame a console that has and does play games way more demanding then a 10 year old game cause my PC ego hurts. :/You "dont feel" the frame drops because you are probably playing on fps compensating TV.

Too early to call ps4 a limiting factor imo, it doesn't have to run on max graphics settings, just has to be viable on the console.
