    Interesting.

    People will defend anything.

Personally I find FOMO and "exclusive" encouragement to play content annoying and semi unconscionable. Like yeah you should limit what you play and the idea that this should in any way be linked to "lowering immunity" is a bit farfetched, but wouldn't it be nice if they didn't make some time limited title that can be monopolized by people who just happen to have more time to play the game?

Question is why are you pretending to be concerned about the health of some people you don't know and would never normally care the slightest bit about if you couldn't use your supposed caring for their plight as leverage to attempt to get an aspect of the game changed in a way you desire?
Weird that you would assume I don't care about other people or that I care about this change.
I'm not competing for ranking and unless they add a minion reward, I probably never will. So this is likely completely irrelevant to me personally.
Right now I'm not even in top 100 (i likely will be once i turn fish in, but prob nowhere near top 12).

But I am fishing for achievements (as those do give minions). And in that process i'm seeing people shout about not sleeping or how stressed they are about keeping up. And that's sad. People should be having fun with a game. Not stressing out and cutting sleep for it.

Most importantly, if this ranking is repetitive (e.g. it just resets at the end and starts again) a lot of people are stressing out because they -believe- it's a 1-time thing. If SE announced details of how this all works, a lot of people might not be screwing over their health chasing something because of the fear of missing out.

And I think it's silly that people's health is being affected because of bad communication. And it is. Drastically reducing your sleep does affect your mental health, lowers your immunity, and has a lot of other negative side effects. And a number of people are saying they have only been sleeping 4 or 5 hours some days to catch up.

I recently (and still do) had an issue with the lack of communication about ocean boats, and how no one knows if abandoning mid-trip ruins it for other people.

There is no good reason to keep all this stuff secret.

Grinders gonna grind and no-lifers gonna no-life, that's their choice and if it damages them in some way because they want their name on that shiny leaderboard then that is on them and them alone.
I now want to re write the lyrics to Taylor Swift's shake it off to use such lyrics as grinders gonna grind, grind, grind, grind, grind and no-lifers gonna life, life, life, life, life.

It would be the perfect song to just put up in situations like this, you know for these threads.

This is regularly discussed in shout chats but is also pretty obvious by looking at people's scores.

With COVID-19 spreading around the world, creating a competitive system that leads to compromised immune systems probably isn't helpful.

It would be great if there could be some public clarification on how the rankings will work in the future, so players don't feel pressure to achieve a high rank immediately.
    Maybe they need a time-off?

Well maybe people should prioritize... It is just a game and the rewards do no justify any kind of real life sacrifice. It is not SE's fault if people lose common sense.

SE can if they want. They should have made tiers of ranks, IE have 1000-9999 for lowest, 10.000-99.9999 for mid and >100.000 for first rank, so everyone can work for it without having to no life. there are 500k rewards already.

If you think to no life this is ok or just cant be helped I propose to remove all caps from this game, if it cant be helped then lettme no life my tome gear on the first week, thanks.

Its not about being lazy or jealous, i respect everyone who is that skilled and puts in this much effort, rly... but its disheartening and soul crushing to log and see ppl having 800k when there are 4 days left, knowing it would be a few 100 full expert crafts.

I have a question about this.. isn't the reward just a title?

that too is the point, unlike super extreme feast mounts or smt its not that special, so there is no reason to not make tiers for rewards to make sure there is a max stat you need - you can inflate your E-P### as much as you like after it.

I think there's a degree of issue with how SE handles things. They are not clear about the full schedule or what people will get out of this long-term. It drives people to feel like they "have" to do it just in case there's an unannounced prize they might be cut off from accessing in the future.

That much is, at best, poor handling on SE's part and at worst, a cynical reliance on the knowledge that some people will go to extremes with this - and they get to chalk it up as player engagement and a successful game.

That said, it is still up to the player to recognise that if the game is impacting on their health, this is not worth pursuing.

Is the game preying on people's addiction to it and/or "fear of missing out"? Are players simply going above and beyond what the developers intend to be healthy and enjoyable play? Where is the line between those things?

It's hard to draw, but more open communication would go a long way to enabling players to decide, with full knowledge of the facts, whether they actually want the rewards and at what point it stops being worthwhile for them.
