I believe the recommended gear button has some sort of "tiebreaker" code in it specifically so if you have several identical pieces on accident (Or at least identical in terms of stats it checks), it consistently picks the same one so all your classes that use it just have the one and you know you can safely discard the others. Your case is just an extreme edge case where you WANT to use several pieces of identical gear... although I would argue that it'd be more effective to just make glamour plates for the looks you want on each class and just change between healers in town so you can change glamour plate as well. That's what I do for a few of my classes.

I do have glamour plates for all of my different outfits, but I found myself stressing out when I was in the middle of nowhere & needed to swap classes, but couldn't apply my glamour plate. If we could apply glamour plates anywhere, I wouldn't mind relying on swapping glamours on the same gear over and over. I know it's silly, and there's no reason I should stress about it, but it grates on my nerves when my outfit is "wrong." I tried to just deal with it for a while, but I finally realized that I have the gil to go buy duplicate gear, & would be much happier if I just did that. :P

I'm probably just spoiled. City of Heroes was my first MMO, and it let you have up to 10 costume slots on each character. You could swap costumes anywhere and at any time. You could also save costume files locally, so you could have literally an unlimited number of saved outfits. You'd just have to visit a Tailor to load outfits into your 10 slots. There were also millions of costume pieces, so you could make practically anything you could come up with. Because of this, I associate outfits very strongly with a character - or in this game, a class. It's not just a body covering, it's part of my character's identity.

Dunno if that makes sense at all, I know I'm weird.

My husband and I keep coming up with more questions.. I hope I'm not being annoying!

- We have a training dummy on our estate. Once we engage in combat with it, it seems like the only way to get out of combat is to enter our estate. Even if we hit ESC and stop attacking, we stay in combat. Are we missing something obvious? Or is entering the estate the only way to get out of combat?

- If we swap a retainer to a new class, I assume they lose all levels from their first class, is this correct? It'd be cool if your retainers could keep their levels and swap classes like you do, but I understand this is highly unlikely.

The only way to leave combat is to enter the estate or move far enough away. It's a limitation of the combat engine.

Yes, the retainer will lose all levels EXCEPT in the case of changing them from a class to a job.

Are there extra, secret requirements to recruit lalafel to my squadron? I have four lalas, I'd like to get 8. I looked up how the recruits are obtained, and am targeting the challenges that have a chance to award the lalas that I don't currently have. Except I'm not getting any of the lalas. I keep getting the exact same Au'Ra over and over, with a few other races sprinkled in. Is there a special, extra requirement to get the lalas, or am I just having terrible luck? I'm playing as an Au'ra, so I'm wondering if that affects who shows up...

Unfortunatley it's random as to the race/gender and appearence of a recruit that wishes to join. Although I suspect completing certain challenge logs may influence that as there are a number of recruits with rare/unusual default gear appearences that can show up too (like, one of the most infamous ones is a male roe wearing the snowman costume head if I remember rightly), and that as I tend to concetrate on just the same challenge logs each week I seem to keep getting the same few potential recruits showing up day after day, with only a few rare ones from time to time.

Also if you dismiss a member of your squad to make way for someone else, that original person will then often show up again as a new recruit so if you do let them go they're not lost forever (any changes you made to them such as stats are reset though), and it's random when they will reappear.

For the treasure maps that say "full party level 80 recommended" - how does the party need to be geared, in order to have a good chance at handling the spawns? Does everyone need to have all Allegan/Allegory/Top Level gear? Or can some or all of the party be wearing the non-unique, gil-purchaseable level 80 gear?
