Ill add a little more for #4. The reason you would boot someone is aesthetics. Their stats are 100% based on their class and level(both of which you can control), so the only difference between them is their looks(and then later, what chemistries you can draw out of them). Do you not like having lalas on your team, but had one show up among your first recruits? Kick them for the next acceptable race that applies. Is your team plain looking? Each race has 2(one male one female) recruits that come with a rare or unique glamour. If your team doesnt have a reindeer, pirate, and/or snowman on it, do you really have a good enough team? You can also do the all guys/girls, or all of the same race thing if you like. Feed them a book to get them on the class you need them on(if they didnt come with the right class to begin with), then just get them the level or 2 they ended up behind worth of exp. If you pay attention to your squad, they will spend much more time at the cap level then they ever did leveling up.

8) About Triple Triad
First of all, make sure that you create and save a new deck every time you encounter a new type of rule that completely changes your gameplay (for example, you don't want to use the same deck for Normal battles and Reverse battles). I personally have one normal deck, one reversed deck, and one bonus deck (and maybe one plus deck ? I forgot).
Unfortunately i do not have a link to provide right now, but anyway i'm sure you fill figure things out as you go. There are plenty of easy fights to take on, and if you stumble upon a fight that is way too difficult for you, it mostly means that you need to come back to it later, when you have stronger decks (collecting more cards allows you to load your deck with higher level cards).
As for the Plus and other similar rules, you can check the link below. One important thing you need to know is that you can also trigger those effects with one of the cards being yours. This means that you can basically set up Plus effects in two turns, and Combos as well (if the rule is applicable).

As for grinding with your friends, as others have mentioned before, don't go kill monsters in the field. This will take way too much time. Help your friend to unlock dungeons, and do those together. They will give you quite a lot of experience at the beginning. Don't forget to do your daily leveling roulette as well !

Nice! Thanks for the link, I really appreciate it! ^_^
As for grinding with my friend, we weren't just killing random mobs in the field. We weren't specifically grinding for XP, but rather *actual experience.* ^_^ I encouraged him to pick up as many quests as he could, as the low-level areas tend to help familiarize new players with how the game works. There just happened to be a lot of kill quests in the 5-15 levels. Now that he's getting closer to dungeon runs, my husband and I wanna take him through some guildhests, so he can get familiar with how they work. He is new to MMOs in general and has never run a dungeon before. :] We're taking it nice and slow for him.

That's very nice of you
MMOs are way more complex than they used to be, so it must be quite overwhelming for someone who has never played one before.
I hope your friend will find the adventure as exciting as we do !

He is really enjoying it so far! The guildhests are definitely a good trial-run for him, as are low level quests.
I have another question.. not sure if it's okay to keep asking newbie questions here or if I need to start a new thread. Hopefully this is okay.
Q: Is there a maximum number of chocobo bardings you can own?
No, you can get every bardings in the game, mix match them too.He is really enjoying it so far! The guildhests are definitely a good trial-run for him, as are low level quests.
